If you like the look of a clean, factory front end when you’re not towing, this setup keeps it that way. The hidden design leaves no bulky brackets showing, and the removable arms twist out quickly when you’re done towing. The included receiver covers keep dirt and debris out and give the front a finished look.

The twist-lock design makes connecting your tow bar simple. Slide the arms into the receivers, rotate them until they lock in place, and secure them with the pin. When it’s time to disconnect, pull the pin, twist, and lift the arms free. It’s quick, clean, and doesn’t require any special tools or awkward alignment.

The base plate bolts directly to your vehicle’s chassis—no welding required—and spreads towing forces evenly to reduce stress on suspension components. The heavy-duty steel construction is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion. It’s a strong setup built for long hauls on all kinds of roads.
This base plate pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure connection. It’s also adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately) or Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector bracket so your wiring stays tidy and accessible.
You don’t need welding gear for this install—just basic tools and a bit of time. The kit bolts securely to the chassis using the supplied mounting hardware. With clearly defined attachment points and straightforward steps, it’s a solid project for anyone who likes to handle their own setup. The bracket spacing is 24" with a height of 14-1/2", giving you precise reference points for planning your tow configuration.

I am glad you were able to get it installed with no issues and a little help from our video! What kind of coach are you pulling the Kia Soul with?

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
