Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

The Jeep has a towing package The normal t connector kits do not work on it. The Reese tconnector kit 74476 almost fits but it has an eight connection pin set up and my Jeep as a ten pin connection. One side of the ten pin has eight wires running to it and the other side has ten wires running to it. I cannot find a ten pin connector kit. If I splice these wires, how should they be connected? There are dark blue wires, light blue wires, white, white with a brown or tan line, a green wire and several others. I was told some of the Jeeps from 1993 through 1995 used different tow package wiring depending on what was available. For instance, a Jeep Grand Cherokee may have a Jeep Country wiring set. Any idea where I could purchase a ten pin connection that would fit or how to splice the ten wire setup into the eight wire set up? There were three dark blue wires connected for some reason. The camper has four wires. I still have the t connector from Reese and would like to splice and use it since I cannot find a ten pin connector anywhere.

I checked with Tow Ready and the recommended trailer wiring harness for your 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the part # 118349. However, the connectors of this kit have 6 pins. Which either means it wouldn't work for your vehicle or you have found the wrong harness to use for installing trailer wiring.

Another option would be to use a universal wiring harness for installing trailer wiring. For that you would want to use the part # C59496. This will require you to test the taillight wiring of your Jeep and then wire the # C59496 by function to it accordingly. I attached an install video for you to check out that shows how this harness installs. This will give you a 4-way for you to connect to your camper.
