Yes, the Thule Replacement 2" Hitch Adapter # 853-7489 is the correct adapter for your Thule 9028 Vertex 2 bike rack. The Vertex 2 seems to have been discontinued, but I found the manual on Thule's site and it points directly to this exact model, so you've got the correct one. It'll fit a 2" receiver hitch and won't change the specifications on your bike since it's the exact same as the original adapter that was on the rack.
