Replacement Bearing Kit For 6K Dexter Axles On 2024 Northwood Arctic Fox 27-5L

Updated 10/12/2026 | Published 10/08/2026

Question:

HI etrailer folks! I have a 2024 Northwood Arctic Fox 27-5L. Based on the QandA here so far, I think I have the Dexter 5200 lb EZ lube axles. I recently had a roadside service event and the tech accidently over torqued the lugnuts and broke one of the wheels studs. I want to replace them but not sure of the correct Dexter part. While Im at it I think it might be wise to carry an extra bearing and seal kit in the event of a failure. Please let me know what you recommend for the wheel studs and bearing set. Thanks in advance!

Hi Ron!

Glad Dexter got back to you faster than they did for me, also a little annoyed if I'm being honest (insert heavy sigh here). But anyway, these are the replacement parts you are looking for:

Dexter Wheel Bolt - 1/2" Diameter - 2-11/16" Long - Qty 1 # 7-262
Replacement Trailer Wheel Bearing Kit, Bearings 15123/ 25580, Races 15245/25520 Races, 10-36 Seal # BK3-100

These are the direct replacements for the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 6,000 lb E-Z Lube Axles - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 # K08-201-9B you have on your axle. It never hurts to have a few spares, so I'd grab a couple.

Then if and when you need to replace the brake, we have those with the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brakes - 12" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 6K # 23-458-459. These are a bit pricey though, so if you wanted to save some money, you could also go with the etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes - Self-Adjusting - 12" - Left/Right Hand - 5.2K to 7K # AKEBRK-7-SA. They are very similar to the Dexters, but they are made overseas.

Any more trips planned for the season?

Thanks Lazer! I am a retired service and parts guy with a major car OEM so I undertand the frustration you have sometimes with suppliers. I think the safest bet is to just to replace the entire hub/drum assembly this time given the torture it went through with the roadside service techs, lol. The Dexter rep pointed me to kit# K08-201-1G. The problem here is this kit specs a 2.125 seal and the Northwood factory order form specs a 2.250 seal. That would be kit# K08-201-2G. While I was typing this the Dexter rep responded and said I was correct, he overlooked the seal spec. Is there a difference I should be aware of between the Dexter kit# K08-201-2G and the one you listed # K08-201-9B? I agree carrying a extra bearing set or two is a good idea and I will get those too before I hit the road again. Finally the wheel stud you recommended has a price of $21.71. Is that for one or a set of 6? lol Thanks for your patience and exempary service Lazer, much appreciated!

@RonL With your axle being a 6K, you should have the 2.25" inner diameter seal. The 2.125" inner diameter is typically found on the 5.2K hubs/drums. Granted, they do use the same bearings and most manufacturer market this size hub for a 5.2K to 7K axle, I'm fairly sure the bearing kit I recommended (the # BK3-100) is the correct one. From all the info I could find, the # K08-201-9B and the K08-201-2G are the exact same part, just with different part numbers. Dexter is a bit notorious for that. Unfortunately, the price for the wheel stud is only for one of them. Which is exorbitantly expensive for what is basically a bolt. If you don't mind the threaded portion being ever so slightly shorter, we do have the 4-pack # RG03-080, which is a significantly more reasonable price.
