Hey Don!

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C67JR is a confirmed fit for all models of the 2026 Subaru Outback, including your Wilderness package. This is a great hitch for hauling a cargo carrier or bikes and also for trailer towing. It's rated at 3,500 lbs of towing weight, but you'll want to refer to your owner's manual on what the Outback is actually rated for.

As shown in the photos below, this hitch is a installed behind the bumper and it's a very involved installation, so I highly recommend having this installed professionally if you haven't installed a hitch like that before. We do have a network of heavily vetted installation partners, and you can use the link below to find an installer in your area.

In addition to this hitch, if your trailer or accessory need to connect to your vehicle lights, you can use the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C34FR72FT and to mount it, a Mounting Bracket # C42CR and a No-Drill Bracket # C57202.

Are you planning to tow a trailer or is this going to be for a bike rack or cargo carrier?

Very easy install. Worked perfectly. Towed our boat 600 miles into Canada and back! Very happy I chose the hitch and wiring from etrailer!

@Paul That's awesome and sounds like a fun trip. Was this a lake trip or visiting the ocean? Fishing or just cruising?

Easy to install. Wouldn't buy from etrailer again . Bad experience. Ordered a receiver sleeve , still haven't received it yet after 12 days. Was supposed to be here Oct.1st, then the 2nd,then the 3rd. Oct 4th USPS stopped posting expected delivery. Now I have to wait 14 days from the last day promised to see what happens. I was told by etrailer because I picked the cheapest delivery, USPS ground $4.99 and it could take 5 or 6 days to receive that it was my fault for picking that kind of delivery.

@Jb I'm really sorry to hear that was your experience. I just checked your order tracking and I do see that the package looks stuck in transit. I've escalated the issue to get that resolved for you as quickly as possible and you should receive an update from someone in our Customer Service department as soon as we have more information on it, whether you'd like a reshipment or to refund the order completely. You can reply to the email you'll receive with this comment if you need any additional information as well and that will get you straight back to me!

The hitch receiver fit my 2026 outback touring perfectly. However I purchased the wiring harness from Subaru. A little pricey but no splicing required!

@Ron No-splice is definitely the way to go! It's newer to market, but the # C34FR72FT is also a plug-and-play harness for an easy install that anyone can do themselves. What do you typically tow with your Subaru?

@JerryB Nice. That was not yet available when I put my receiver on the outback. Also the date it would be available was not known so I pulled the trigger and got the Subaru one. A couple good things about the Subaru version is that it has both the 4 pin and 7 pin connectors, and the connector for trailers with electric brake.
