Ball Mount That Extends Far Enough To Use With An Oris Disapearing Hitch On A Mustang Mach-E

Published 10/06/2026

Question:

Why does none of the documentation for the Oris Disapearing Hitch Receiver TS49VR for the Mustang Mach-E list a hitch ball mount that is compatible. The receiver is recessed far behind the bumper and very few ball mounts are long enough. What is the preferred hitch ball mount.

Hi Greg!

There isn't a preferred or specific ball mount for the Oris Disappearing Hitch Receiver # TS49VR as it will always sit a bit different depending on the vehicle. With it being very recessed on your Mach-E, you will just need to find one that is long enough to clear the bumper, while also having enough rise or drop to suit your trailer.

It looks like you have the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 4" Rise, 6" Drop - 14-1/4" Long - 6,000 lbs # D-28 ordered already, and that would have been I recommended. It's one of the longer options we carry while still having a good amount of capacity, so good choice!

What are you going to be towing?

I need to tow a utility trailer now and will be towing a tent later. I will also need to carry some bicycles. The D-28 hitch is 2 inches longer than what the Oris installation says is needed. That is why I had the question.

@GregP That makes sense. This could potentially cause issues with a bike rack as well, so when you get it installed, measure from the edge of your bumper to the center of the hitch pin hole. That will tell you how long the shank on the bike rack has to be. If you run into any issues finding one that will fit, just let me know that measurement and I can see what I can find for you! ^___^
