Features to know about

Safer towing, smarter setup

Hand on scale

If your trailer sways, or your truck feels light in the steering, or unsettled over bumps, your tongue weight could be off. This scale helps you dial it in before you hit the road. With a simple squeeze of the lever, you can adjust the height with one hand and lower the trailer with the other. Just set the foot in 2" steps, position it under the coupler, and crank your jack a couple inches. You'll get a clear, accurate reading in seconds. No math. No guesswork. Just a smoother, safer tow.

Stable, secure, and SnapPad equipped

Hand holding SnapPad

Ever set up on gravel or grass and felt your rig teeter like it's one gust away from tipping? This scales wide steel foot stays planted so you get accurate readings even when the ground's working against you. The built-in set screw holds the foot in place, so it doesn't drop out while you're adjusting the height. And to boost your footing, it comes with a 6" SnapPad that adds grip and stability when things get sketchy.

Easy-to-read gauge

Close-up of Gauge

No squinting, no second guessing. The large analog display shows tongue weight in 50-lb increments up to 2,000 lbs. It also shows tongue weight in tons, so you'll know right away if you're creeping up on your vehicle's limits.

Tested, trusted, and JD approved

BTBRV Logo

This isn't just some random tool with a logo slapped on it. JD from Big Truck Big RV has spent years hauling, wrenching, and testing gear in the real world, and he only puts his name on the gear he actually uses. All BTBRV products go through the wringer before they make the cut. No BS. No gimmicks. Just reliable gear that does what it's supposed to when it matters most.

It is easy to use. The reason only 4 stars is the gauge to read is upside down so have to take a picture of it, make sure my auto rotate is off, and flip my phone to see the weight.

by:

Great product. It is super easy to use and gives me accurate important information.

by:

Having just received the product, it’s way too soon to know what the quality is at this point. Once I have an opportunity to use the product, I’ll be more than happy to score.

by:

Really quality product. Easy to use and easy to store . Arrived within a week of ordering. Will recommend to others.

by:

Great job as always.

by:

Works as advertised. Was a little short for my tongue height, even fully extended. Nothing a block couldn’t fix though.

by:

I guess you get what you pay for this was a little bit more expensive a little bit larger scale, but I think it beats the Spring type that I had before. It was very inconsistent. I am well what’s the point of weighing and if you can’t trust the measurement. This one from E trailer is very stable and extremely accurate. I had about 350 pounds too much on my tongue of my trailer so I move some stuff around. Got it to be about 11%. Thank you I’ll shop here again.

by:

This product is solid, sturdy and easy to use. The on,y suggestion is to make the dial easier to see and discern the wight. It has given me greater confidence in knowing what my tongue weeght is .Perhaps enlarge the surface area of the face with larger numbers Customer service, as always with e-trailer was excellent.

by:

The construction is fantastic and worked like a charm!

by:

Great tool for those who haul a lot of different cargo. This tool you can check your tongue weight before hitting the road. But I agree with others. The gauge would be nice if it face up.

by:

Works as advertised.

by:

The scale arrived and right out of the box the needle is at 200lbs not zero.

by:

Set up and use was pretty straight forward. Now I need to adjust the weight distribution in my camper trailer.

by:

Outstanding product quality. Outstanding etrailer service

by:

I needed to have a better understanding of my campers tongue weight loaded with our regular equipment and also when we are fully loaded for a trip. Traveling to a shop with a tongue scale is not convenient. I searched on line and found the BTBRV and watched reviews. I am a big fan of SnapPad and was thrilled it came paired with one. I used it for the first time last week before our trip. The height adjustment makes it easy to get close to the tongue and in under a minute I had my weight. I checked it as the camper sits and rechecked it when fully loaded for the trip. Our tongue weight was right where it should be. I will continue to use it before every trip as our gear and supplies change based on our destination.

by:

Used once was glad to get a correct reading. This will help in setting up new BW hitch that I can’t get set correctly or where to set the pressure so can pull the camper safely.

by:

Disappointing. I was hoping for a tongue weight of under 700 lbs, it was 850. I’m sure it’s the scale and not the twin fully filled propane tanks and weight distributing hitch stored in the front trailer compartment.

I’m glad I bought it. I’m a numbers guy and this is my first RV. Now I have the information for a safe tow. BTW, your scale was the only affordable one I found that did less than 100 lb increments.

by:

The tongue scale needs the snap pad to stop from sliding when weight is applied. I had to place a 12 inch stack of blocks under the scale to keep my trailer tongue level for weighing. My coupler is 2 5/16. To prevent the scale from moving when i put the tongue weight on the scale, a 2 5/6 attachment would have helped. If the trailer tires had not been chalked, the trailer probably fallen off the tongue scale when weight was applied. The scale does its job.

by:

It's nice to finally know what the exact tongue weight or our travel trailer is, for years I have been guessing. Now I can relax with an accurate measurement.

by:

Arrived quickly, will be very useful with ALL my trailers.

by:

Worked easy and very well. I like being able to see my tongue weight before I hook to the truck, that way I can balance the load so it tows better and safer. I just got it, so I can't attest to longevity of the product.

by:

Scale was safe and easy to use. Worked great to determine optimum loading on vehicle for towing.

by:

Very easy to use. Great peace of mind to know the tongue weight.

by:

The tongue weight scale was delivered in short order and was well packaged.
Its quality is first rate and easy to use.
I have a NOBO 19.1 toy hauler and have wondered about the tongue weight when I was not carrying my trike!

Glad you like your scale Kerry. Knowing the tongue weight of your toy hauler with the garage loaded versus unloaded is important information to have, for sure!

by:

Very easy to use and within 25 lbs of the Govt truck scales. Big help in knowing how to load travel trailer and keep your 10-15 % tongue weight.

  • Weight Distribution Hitch for 2026 Chevy Silverado 3500 Towing Brinkley Z Air 297
Hey Michael! When you're choosing a weight distribution hitch the most important factor is the tongue weight of the trailer. It looks like the dry/unloaded tongue weight of a Brinkley Z Air 297 is 924 lbs. Once you add batteries and propane you will be up over 1,000 lbs before anything else is loaded in the trailer. Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight. Looking at the GVWR of 13,495 lbs that could potentially get as high as 2,000 lbs but I expect you to be more...

  • Correct Blue Ox SwayPro for Trailer with 1,330 lb Dry Tongue Weight
Hey Edwin! If the listed dry tongue weight is 1,330 lbs you will likely be over the rating of your current SwayPro spring bars. You'll probably be adding 150-200 lbs with the propane and batteries, but that does depend on the number of propane tanks and the size of the batteries. Add in whatever you store in the front pass through, inside the trailer toward the font, anything you're carrying behind the rear axle on your tow vehicle, and you can easily exceed 1,500 lbs. Since you already...

  • How do I Improve Ride Comfort When Towing a 39' Travel Trailer with a 2025 F-350?
Hello Robert, It sounds like you may be experiencing a bit of white-knuckle towing, which is never enjoyable. When a trailer doesn’t want to track straight, it can make every mile feel longer than it should. I do recommend a weight distribution system, but the key to choosing the correct one is knowing your total loaded tongue weight. A 39-foot pull-behind travel trailer will typically have a loaded weight somewhere in the 10,000 to 14,000 lb range. Your tongue weight should fall between...

  • Will Upgraded Batteries Push Tongue Weight Too High on Keystone Passport
Hey Ryan! It has hard to say without knowing your existing loaded tongue weight, but the batteries may push your tongue weight beyond the limits of your Blue Ox SwayPro # BLU66FR. You also need to consider the weight of anything behind the rear axle in your truck since that also counts as tongue weight. Before you build a frame and add a box to the tongue I would definitely take a scale like # BTBRV27FR and see where you sit. You can play around with the batteries a bit (I understand...

  • Best Tongue Weight Scale For 2019 27' Airstream International
Hey Matthew, thanks for reaching out. For that setup, the B&W Digital Tongue Weight Scale # BW34KR is the best option. It can adjust to a height between 19-1/2" and 27" so perfect for a 21" coupler height. The Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale # BTBRV27FR might be a hair too short for that. I also like the digital display on the B&W scale, and the fact that is goes by 5 lb increments. That will give you a much more accurate reading versus trying to eyeball the needle on a gauge. The...

  • Can 2017 Ford F-150 Carry More Than 500 lbs of Tongue Weight
Hey Don, welcome back! You are always going to be limited by the lowest number when it comes to towing/tongue weight capacity. Even though the hitch is rated higher you're stuck with 500 lbs as the max. It is as you said, the tongue weight includes the Yakima EXO with gear plus the tongue weight of your trailer. If you aren't sure about your tongue weight I recommend getting a scale like # BTBRV27FR or even a Weigh Safe ball mount # WS56KR. I'm not sure how much your tongue weight is...

Hey Aaron! The Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers with SnapPad Jack Stand Pad # BTBRV27FR uses a 323 gauge so the margin of error is 3%. The gauge on the scale displays weight in 50-lb increments up to 2,000 lbs. If you need a storage bag the Big Truck Big RV Accessories Bag # BTBRV002 is also available. Hey Tony! The Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers - 1,000 lbs # BTBRV004 is not adjustable. It has a fixed height of 17-1/4". At that height, and the 1,000 lb capacity, you will be able to get a measurement on a lot of different trailers. The # BTBRV99FR with the SnapPad will add approximately 1" to that overall height along with the increased stability. If you're looking for an adjustable scale we also have the # BTBRV44FR (with storage bag) or # BTBRV27FR (with SnapPad)....

Hi David! With the Big Truck Big RV Trailer Jack Foot Scale with Tongue Weight Gauge - 2,000 lbs # BTBRV014 installing under the jack to get your tongue weight, it technically will be a little heavier than if you measured at the coupler (like with the Big Truck Big RV # BTBRV27FR). Assuming you center it on the crossbars your sea eagle is going to stick off the back 45" which will put you right at 12' overall which is the space you have available. Based on the weight of that trailer you may be better off with the # EQ37060ET for 200-600 lbs of tongue weight. Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight so you're right in the middle potentially. Realistically it would be best to measure with a scale like the # BTBRV27FR to be sure.
