Why Do The Sway Bracket Jackets For Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Affect Sway Control Feature

Are these pads compatible with Fastaway e2 94-00-1000 trunnion? asked by: Scott B Expert Reply: The Equal-I-zer bracket jackets you referred to, part # EQ95-01-5150 will work with your Fastway E2 # FA92-00-1000 weight distribution system. However, if you use the bracket jackets, youll significantly reduce the effectiveness of the sway control feature that the E2 provides. The jackets will prevent the metal on metal friction between the spring bar and the L bracket attached to the trailer frame. Question: How is this any different than than the design of the equalizer hitch? Why would equalizer manufacture a product that will significantly reduce the effectiveness of the sway. Same basic design with both companies and both use metal on metal with “L” brackets. Please advise as I was getting ready to install.

The Sway Bracket Jackets for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems part # EQ95-01-5150 are compatible with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control part # FA94-00-1000. They will slightly diminish the sway control feature because the sway control of the Fastway systems is designed with steel-on-steel friction. If you add the Sway Bracket Jackets they are nylon, not metal which limits the steel on steel contact to help with noise. You will still have some friction with the nylon but it won't be as effective as the steel-on-steel.
The Fastway and Equal-i-zer systems have the same manufacturer and very similar design except the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems have 4-points of sway control instead of 2-points like the Fastway systems. When you use the Sway Bracket Jackets with the Equal-i-zer systems there are still 2 points of friction where the arms go into the head so the jackets do not diminish the sway control as noticeably.
I recommend to use Equal-i-zer High-Performance Lubricant part # EQ91-00-4250 to help reduce the noise instead of the Bracket Jackets which will not affect the sway control at all.
