Will Trimax King Pin Lock Work on Grand Design Pin Box that Has Capture Plate

Updated 09/14/2026 | Published 09/08/2026

Question:

I have a short bed truck with super glide hitch and a grand design reflection 5th wheel with lippert 1621 and capture plate. Will the red Trimax king pin lock fit or do I need the yellow etrailer 5th wheel king pin lock? Thank you.

Hey Doug, yes the Trimax King Pin Lock part # TMX36RR that you referenced will work on your fifth wheel king pin setup that currently has a capture plate. This will work really well as a theft deterrent!

I am very happy with my purchase of my Trimax King pin lock. I would give it a five star rating for quality and function. .

I use the Trimax King Pin Lock (red) with my Brinkley that has a Curt Helux pin box and a Super Glide capture plate and it works great! I pull with a RAM 3500 short bed and Super Glide hitch. The yellow one would not fit properly.

First I must honestly say I didn't know there was a difference with the colors. If someone can list those, I'd love to know. Anyway, I have the Red one and I love it. I feel very confident on the security because I have our rig at my firehouse's parking lot. No room at my home! I like that the locking pin stays out until you place this back on your hitch pin and simply push in the locking pin! A+.
