rv rider

The RV Rider platform-style hitch bike rack makes it simple to carry 2 electric bikes on the rear of your motorhome, fifth wheel, or flat-towed vehicle. This rack is easy to use, and it features padded clamps and adjustable wheel hoops, so you can quickly load and unload your bikes. A locking hitch pin with an anti-rattle system tightens the rack's shank to your hitch receiver to prevent it from rattling around inside the tube.

Locking, Padded Clamps

clamps

Constructed of rugged plastic, the RV Rider uses padded clamps with hand knobs to secure your bikes by the frame or seat post. The clamps are easily adjusted along the vertical tubing and lock securely in place. Each clamp functions independently, which means you can position them to carry bikes of different heights.

If you are transporting a carbon fiber bike, do not use the clamp on the frame. Instead, attach the clamp to the seat post to prevent damaging the frame.

Adjustable Wheel Hoops

wheel hoops

The wheel hoops accommodate bicycles with wheelbases up to 60" by sliding along the horizontal arms. They secure in place with easy-to-use hand knobs, and ratchet straps fasten the wheels to the hoops. These universal wheel hoops will fit standard and fat tires up to 5" wide.

Folding, Tilting Design

tilting

The rack tilts up and down, without bikes loaded, for storage and access to your rear cargo area. To lower the rack, remove the pin, hand knob, and carriage bolt, then tilt the rack down.

folding

To raise the rack, remove the hand knob and carriage bolt, then fold the rack up and reinsert the hardware. After, you can use the hook and loop strap (similar to Velcro) on the frame clamp and connect it to the wheel holder, which helps secure the mast in place.

Easy Installation with Locking Hitch Pin

The RV Rider easily installs in the hitch with the locking hitch pin. Just slide the shank into your receiver, insert the hitch pin, and attach the lock pod. The locking pin works as an anti-wobble device to eliminate sway and rattle in the receiver. It also comes with a hitch tightener to help reduce vertical wobble by pressing the shank against the receiver. It attaches to the top or bottom of the flange on your receiver using a U-bolt and clamp bar.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

The RV Rider comes with locks for both the rack and your bikes to deter theft. The lock pod on the hitch pin, lock cores in the frame clamps, and the 8' long security cable lock are conveniently keyed alike.

works great just have to tighten it dow n.

This product is well built but you pay a premium price. I would have expected stainless bolts In strategic places such as where a plastic knob with a captive nut threads on a bolt. My experience is this is the weak point for anything that is subject to the elements. The bolts rust and the plastic knobs break. I gave it a 4 because of the following; missing a minor part, non stainless hardware and crazy high price.

by:

Very nice and heavy duty . My Rad Power bike fat tires have to be forced down in to holders . They fit very snugly which I assume will be ok . This rack clears the spare tire on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JL . Although this is rated to haul E-Bikes on a flat towed vehicle , it was a little pricey

by:

Was delivered when it was expected. Was very professionally boxed and packaged. All parts were included & directions for assembly were clear and accurate.

by:

1. It's a very heavy bike rack but it has to be when carrying 2 60lb. electric 4" tire off road bikes!
2. Sturdy mount into hitch receiver and does not bounce around.
3. Rated for use on the back of a 5th wheel!!!

by:

My wife and I installed the Hollywood Rack a year ago on our Montana 5th wheel RV and could not be happier. I had to fabricate our own hitch to accommodate the rack. We use the bike rack to carry two E-bikes and I don't believe we could have found a better quality rack... the multiple locking arrangements work absolutely wonderful, too. The folks at etrailer.com have also been wonderful to do business with, and always concerned about us getting the service and quality that we expect, which is something we appreciate greatly. I absolutely would recommend etrailer.com to anyone, they are now the folks to whom we look whenever we need parts or new toys for our pride and joy. Thank you!

by:

The Hollywood RV Rack is very well built and is solid on the back of my 5th wheel. I am using it to haul 2 ebikes one standard tire and one fat tire.

by:

This rack is a beast. Arrived on time, in good shape and fairly easy to assemble. I can easily see why it is rv approved. I love the multiple locks and security cable as well as the versatile design to accommodate most bike sizes, shapes and tire widths, including ebikes. We ride mountain bikes and gravel grinders now but this rack will suit us if/when we add ebikes to our fleet in the future. Also, the folks at etrailer are the best!

It has proven to be rock solid on the back of our 33 foot fifth wheel and has made multiple camping trips including a 20 day adventure to the UP in Michigan. It is just as solid on the camper as it is on the truck or car. We are quite satisfied with out purchase. We are retires an fortunate to be able to spend an average of 120 days a year in our camper so the rack gets a lot of use.

by:

2month update: We love our Hollywood RV bike rack!! The 2” hitch fits perfectly for a secure connection. We carry 2 beach bikes on our travels. The rack was easy to install, easy to set up for carrying bikes and easy to fold up when not carrying! The bikes fit snugly on the rack and nothing moves or rattles going down the road. Glad we listened to etrailer advice and purchased upgraded rack designed for use on RV flat tow vehicle! Excellent product!! I did add extra reflector tape to aid in seeing at night when folded up not carrying bikes.

Still loving our Hollywood bike rack!! Just returned from camping and great to bring bikes along. The rack has held up very well and no issues. Highly recommend this rack. We tow a vehicle with our motorhome and the rack is rated to attach to the towed vehicle.

I’m just hauling 1 bike for now. Very sturdy design installation was straightforward. As with everything time will tale.

Glad it's working well for you currently, Dirk! And sweet Brinkley! Those things are nice. ^___^ Have fun out there and let us know how it holds up for you!

by:

We've had our Hollywood RV Rider bike rack for over a year and it's met all of our expectations. We haul 2 RAD ebikes behind our Class A motorhome using a Roadmaster Dual Hitch. This setup allows us to keep the bikes between the motorhome and the "Toad" which has worked out very well.

The Hollywood RV Rider bike rack has held up very well and is easy to use once you get it configured for your specific bike(s).

No regrets. We’ve hauled this rack coast to coast with 2 e-bikes on it, well over 15,000 miles total with no problems at all.

by:

Our two e-bikes fit perfectly on this rack. We are using it on our 5th wheel camper and will not be able to see how it holds up to travel until April 1st so the jury is still out on its durability. The rack we are replacing its this on was a one year old Young Electric brand purchased from Amazon hat completely failed. The upright supports that hold the bikes for front to back movement snapped completely off doing extensive damage to very expensive e-bikes. The Hollywood RV Rider appears to much superior in construction so we have high hopes.Apparently duty on the back of a 5th wheel camper can be quite extreme.

Glad you’re pleased with your purchase so far, Doug! I can’t wait for you to take your first trip, you’re going to be even more impressed. The bounce at the rear of a fifth wheel can be tough on bike racks and can cause extra wear on the bikes themselves, so I’m glad you found a rack that’s rated to handle those conditions. Where are you headed on April 1st?

by:

Overall, it appears to be a sturdy rack. Holds my ebikes firmly in place. I use it on a Curt front hitch receiver on my 2020 GMC 3500HD. Folded up, I have about half inch of clearance to the bumper. Only thing I don't care for is the hitch through bolt/lock that comes with the rack. I like the anti-rattle design of a threaded bolt, but the shaft and lock are not adequate.

Glad you like it, Ronnie! Well, mostly anyway. : P I see what you mean about the hitch pin though. It isn't the biggest one in the world, but I can say they did a lot of testing with this hitch on the back of an RV and it held up to that kind of punishment. I think it will hold up you whatever you can throw at it as well. What kind of bikes are you carrying?

@LazerS I have two Lectric XP4 750 step-through ebikes. Since first posting the review, I discovered that if you use a bike cover with the bikes on the front, it creates a dead air zone in front of the grill on the truck when traveling at freeway speeds. Long story short. I'm having to haul the bikes on the hitch receiver of my travel trailer instead.

by:

It works as advertised. I carry two e-bikes behind my 5th wheel, or truck. I think it could be a little more user friendly. The vertical support needs to fold down in both directions instead of just one. Removing the bolt and nob(and lock washer) to lower vertical support bar is taxing and makes losing parts very easy (especially at night). It’s very heavy, and is a project to mount and dismount from hitch. Overall, it does what it says it will do, and is trustworthy.

I appreciate your honest opinion about this rack, Kevin! Even thought it didn't make a 4 or 5 star it's really helpful to know why, so thank you for telling us what you really think :)

by:

Very impressed with the quality of the bike rack. Easy to assemble and all parts were in box.
Mounted this on our 37’ alpine fifth wheel. We have two lectric e-bikes and have traveled about two thousand miles and some on really rough roads. Bike rack has been awesome. Would recommend it!

Just got home from a month trip to Colorado, bike rack working great with no problems!

by:

I've had the Hollywood rack for several months now and it has carried my 75 pound fat tire bike with me to dozens of events in several states. Assembly and installation was easy. I did add lights to the rack using some inexpensive LED light bars, clamping them to the wheel holders on each side. Clearance for the tailgate of my Hyindai Pallisade is close with the aftermarket hitch I have installed. Everything has to be folded down in the right spots to clear but it works fine.

A year later and still very happy with this rack. No issue with anything wearing out or shaking loose. I feel very confident with how secure the bike is on this rack, especially when I am parked next to competitors with other brands of racks. Some of those would make me nervous on a bumpy road.

We love our Hollywood RV Rider Bike Rack. We have loaded it on our 87 Jeep Wrangler, our ‘06 Lexus, and our ‘83 Pilot. It is a perfect fit on all three! We needed the extra length to clear our rear mount tire on our Jeep. It worked! We have taken our 4”fat tire e-bikes on many roads from northern Idaho to southern Arizona. The bikes travel well and sturdy on this heavy weight rack. We feel very confident that they stay in place. We are able to load our bikes in a few minutes and hit the road in no time. It is very easy to load. We recommend using the bar grip extenders (which came in the package) to compact the storage area. This rack comes with a tip mechanism to allow you to tip the bikes down to access the rear trunk or hatchback.

We still love this bike rack! It carries our bikes on rough, gravel, uneven roads with hardly any bounce to the rack or bikes. It is very solid and the bikes stay so secure. We highly recommend this heavy duty bike rack. It handles our bikes wonderfully!

by:

I have had several name brand bike racks and the Hollywood Racks RV Rider is by far the best. The rack is very sturdy and lite weight. It was easy to assemble with very good instructions. The rack fits our fat tire e-bikes and my SUV perfectly. The rack is very easy to adjust and while it sits high as to not drag the bikes when exiting parking lots, loading our 60lb e-bikes is no problem at all with the appropriate nethod, one wheel at a time. It is also possible to lean the rack to access the rear hatch on my SUV. The main reason for purchasing the rack is it is certified to mount behind a motorhome or on an SUV while being flat towed. There is literally no movement or sway of the rack behind the SUV. Very happy with this rack.

The rack has been working flawlessly. It is a very sturdy rack, and very easy to adjust the bike locations.

I purposely delayed submitting a review until we had a chance to really test it. We have just arrived in New England from GA and the bike rack has performed well. The interstates had many bumps along the way but our 2 bikes (1 ebike 50lbs/1 mountain bike 35lbs) remained secure on the back of our RV at 65 mph. I would rate 4.5 stars if possible, our issue was one of the locks was stubborn and I had to spray it with some lubricant. We also had one of the wheel strap cushions fall off and it took some time to find it since it is all black. I have orange duct tape on them now and spray painted the nuts & washers that are removed when using the rack. Very happy with our purchase.

No problems with the Hollywood Bike Rack. We have logged about 4K miles using the rack to carry my wifes EBike and my mountain bike. Holding up strong.

by:

My purchase experience has been great !! Package arrived two day earlier than expected. The assembly directions were clear and easy to follow. Parts were broken down into separate packages that coincided with the steps in the directions. The fit on the rear of our fifth wheel camper is excellent. Well done Hollywood e-bike racks.

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Electric Step Thru Bikes
Hey Anthony thanks for stopping by! The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR will work fine with your step thru bikes, but you're also going to need an adapter bar # HRBA-PRO. If you're not sold on the Sport Rider SE, then I'd suggest going with the Hollywood Racks RV Rider # HLY64FR. This rack is very similar to the SportRider SE but does not require the adapter bar for step thru bikes. Both racks can handle the exact same size bikes, so whichever you choose you'll be set! This rack has a reenforced shank, making it suitable for RVs and travel trailers. It has a 70 lb per bike weight rating. This rack uses ratcheting hooks that attach to the frame of the bike, so fenders will not be an issue. It also works with a lot of alternative/step thru frames. Hey, William! The Roadmaster dual receiver hitch adapter part # RM48BQ that you're looking at is made for your exact scenario! The only think you may want to consider would be turning clearance. This rack was reinforced for heavier bikes at the rear of 5th wheel trailers where the ride quality is notoriously rougher than on vehicles and it has fat tire wheel hoops that allow it to work with fat bikes as well. It does say it's for e-bikes which I know you don't have but it will still work great on a non-e-bike as well. Let me know what you think about this option....
