Does Brake Output Circuit of Vehicle Need to Be Active for Install of Redarc Tor Pro Link

Updated 08/31/2026 | Published 08/19/2026

Question:

I have a new 2026 Ford T350 outfitted as a Thor Gemini RV. It has the 7 pin connector in place installed by the upfitter. It does not have the factory tow package and as a result the blue brake control wire does not connect to anything under the dash. Will the RED57AR apply the trailer brakes without the blue brake control wire being active inthe 7 pin connector?

Hey Ronnie, welcome back! This is a great question but yes the Redarc Tow Pro Link part # RED57AR will work great for you without needing the brake output circuit of your T350 7-way connected to anything. This brake controller basically creates that circuit from the 7-way back to the trailer brakes so anything before that does not matter. This is a great brake controller solution for you that doesn't require any complex wiring too so you'll be really happy with it! What are you planning on towing?

Hi Jameson, Since I installed the Red57AR this weekend I am unable to get the controller to broadcast a signal to connect with Bluetooth to the app and I am very frustrated. It's definitley not plug and play for me. I checked the black wire at the control module connector for 12V and it is getting power. And all my trailer lights are working perfectly since I installed the harness. including brake lights, turn signals and running lights. I have reviewed the pairing instructions several times and have worked on this for hours trying to get it pair. Could I have a bad controller? Any ideas? Also feel free to call me on the number on my account. Order #125431594 Thanks!

@Ronnie It looks like there is a pending return for the brake controller, are you in process of sending it back?
