Updated 07/06/2026 | Published 06/30/2026

Question:

Hi guys, I own a 2014 VW Touareg TDI LUX with the factory tow package. As you know this car is rated to tow up to 7,700LBS I am looking for a make my life easyinch Break controller, preferably Bluetooth or such. Id hate to drill holes in my dash or elsewhere. I like this product, Code: RED57AR, and wan to make sure itll work well with my application. I have a dual axle trailer with 1 axle with brakes. The Curt plug adapter will not work, as my 7pin plug basically faces straight down. Please let me know what you think will work best. Best

Hey Andreas, thanks for all the information! The Redarc Tow-Pro Link item # RED57AR is by far the best way to add a Bluetooth brake controller to your 2014 VW Touareg. It works with trailer's that have up to four braking axles. There's no drilling whatsoever involved with the installation.

The Redarc Tow-Pro Link item # RED57AR is going to connect directly to your VW's factory wiring behind the 7-way connector. You'll need to disconnect the VW factory harness from the 7-way and the plug the Tow-Pro Link item # RED57AR in line between the two. Your 7-way being hung in a vertical position will not impact the effectiveness of the controller's sensors either.

Another nice perk of the Redarc Tow-Pro Link item # RED57AR is the built in sway control feature. This can be activated to prevent trailer sway before it starts. The brake controller will slightly activate your trailer's brakes.

What kind of trailer do you have?
