I have a 2019 Grand Design Reflection travel trailer. Model 312bhts. I want to replace the rear A/C with a 18000 btu Furrion chill cube ducted unit. I have noticed a few packages on the website that include the A/C, air distribution box and the handheld and wall mounted thermostat. I would like to know which package is the best fit for this RV. Ideally I would like to have the wall mount thermostat still control the A/C and the furnace but Ive seen where this can be problematic. Have thee issues been worked out yet? Would like to know your recommendation.

Thanks for writing in.
If your rear A/C is connected to the trailer's ductwork, I recommend the Furrion Chill Cube RV AC with Air Distribution Box and Thermostat # FR69TD. This package includes the 18,000 Btu Chill Cube, air distribution box, and wall-mounted thermostat for a ducted setup.
If your rear A/C is a non-ducted (ductless) unit that blows directly into the room through its ceiling assembly, then the correct option would be the Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner with Air Distribution Box # FR59TD.
As far as thermostat control goes, at this time Furrion does not offer a way to tie the RV furnace into the Chill Cube thermostat system. The wall thermostat included with the ducted Chill Cube packages only controls the air conditioner. Furnace operation would continue to be controlled separately.
For the ductless Chill Cube systems, there is not currently a wall-mounted thermostat available. Instead, the system is controlled with the included remote, which features a "Follow Me" function. When Follow Me mode is enabled, the remote acts as the temperature sensor for the air conditioner. This allows the system to monitor the temperature where the remote is located rather than at the ceiling assembly. While it is not a traditional wall thermostat, it serves much the same purpose for the A/C and gives you flexibility to have the temperature measured where you're actually spending time.
I do want to mention that I do not have a database that shows exactly how every RV left the factory. From the information I was able to find, the 2019 Reflection 312BHTS was commonly prepped for a second A/C, but the rear unit was not installed on every trailer from the factory. Because of that, I cannot verify whether your specific rear A/C is ducted or non-ducted based on the model number of the trailer alone.

I had the wall thermostat changed out to only control the furnace and then had the hand held remote to control the A/C. This setup works perfectly !! The A/C unit works amazing keeping the camper cool and it cut my electric bill in half. With using it in an area with big swings in temps, we set the furnace at 68 degrees and the A/C at 74 and don’t need to worry about it. We had a GD Reflection 313rlts as it was recently lost due to hurricane damage, so the shop removed the A/C unit and is putting it on our coachman Catalina 293rlds. Hope this is helpful!

I bought the one with the wall thermostat because the current thermostat in your rig will not work. You don’t have to install the wall thermostat as the remote will work just fine just install the holder near your original thermostat. The other ac unit that has the swinging cooling vent I would not buy because you really want to run this unit ducted most all the time when you run it dumping out the bottom it mixes with intake air loosing efficiency and it’s not as quiet. I just installed mine on my 35, grand design fifth wheel and turned it on at 90 degrees here in Utah an in 30 min it was 78 degrees and it’s quiet running inside and out. I have an HVAC license and could fix the 5 year old unit that was too small and noisy and not worth my time. This is the best option on the market and this was the best price to buy it. Spend the time to tape off every possible place between intake and exhaust air before installing the face plate. Forget the old thermostat it will only be for heater now. My new thermostat I never installed works great

I was especially surprised to receive my chill cube in two days and it was very well packaged. I couldn’t find a better price anywhere else but using etrailer I have peace of mind that I can return or warranty or get assistance.

I bought the ducted version with thermostat and handheld remote. The thermostat does control the heater. It also turns the Chill Cube fan on to help circulate the warm air. An unexpected but nice feature. The handheld remote only controls the cooling functions and must be aimed at the A/C panel, making it difficult to runtime in Follow Me mode. I wish the wall thermostat had remote features.
