Will A 2025 Ram 1500 Have Any Issues Running The etrailer Electric Jack e74GV?

Updated 06/03/2026 | Published 05/29/2026

Question:

I am looking at the 5K electric trailer jack with the 7 way connection e74GV. In some of the reviews I have seen the plug not suppling power when plugged into some Fords and I believe there was Chevy as well. Has there been any issues with 2025 Ram 1500s? Also, does this unit come with a cover for the head to protect the motor and such when not in use?

Welcome back Michael!

I have not hear any issues with the etrailer Electric Trailer Jack w/ 7-Way - Drop Leg - A-Frame - 18" Lift - 5K # e74GV working with a 2025 Ram 1500. So far, this has been a Ford issue most of the time, but brand new GM vehicles are starting to do it as well. And you are correct for the reasoning. Those trucks are not sensing enough power draw and are basically shutting off the supply of said power. To my knowledge, the Ram trucks do not do this, so you will be perfectly fine!

The etrailer Electric Trailer Jack # e74GV has a waterproof motor cover and rubber-sealed switches, but it doesn't come with a cover. If you wanted to cover it as well, the etrailer Protective Cover for Electric A-Frame Jacks - Vinyl - 14-1/2" x 17-1/2" # e59VV is a good choice and will make sure everything is very protected.

What kind of trailer are you wanting to install this on? And does it typically live outdoors?
