Can I Mount an Electric Jack So It's Facing Sideways Instead of Forward

I am hoping you can help answer a few questions regarding your e23ZV jack. I need to replace an old Lippert jack on my 21 foot travel trailer which weighs around 5000 pounds. I have attached a couple pictures of the current jack on my trailer. It seems like this jack should work as a replacement, Do you agree? With my current jack, the tailgate would not down without hitting the jack head. I found that there were additional holes drilled in the jack body so I could rotate the jack head 90 degrees. Is this an option with your jack? Or would you recommend rotating the whole jack 120 degrees when mounting to the trailer? Thank you in advance for your help. Neil

That's a great question, Neil!
Yes, you can mount the etrailer Electric Trailer Jack # e23ZV facing to the side, similar to how your current Lippert jack is mounted. Manufacturers have gotten a lot better about this over the years, and the mounting holes on most jacks are designed to give you some flexibility in how the head is positioned.
The mounting bracket on the # e23ZV also has slotted holes, which makes it easier to rotate and position the jack where you need it for the best tailgate clearance.
If your current setup works well with the jack turned to the side, I don't see any reason you wouldn't be able to do the same thing with the etrailer jack.

I turned mine as well. I had to bore out one hole about an 1/8". It worked great...no issues.

I turned mine and tailgate still did not clear. I bought a hitch extension and now I can drop my tailgate without having to worry about it.
