Question:

I have a 2026 Tacoma SR5. Can I simply remove the front air dam and reinstall it later so I don’t need to cut a hole in it? Thanks.

You sure can David and congrats on the new truck! That's actually a pretty common practice when installing the Curt item # C55RJ. It's covered in the installation instructions I have linked below.

The Curt Front Hitch item # C55RJ has been confirmed to fit the 2026 Toyota Tacoma SR5. This hitch is custom fit and comes with all hardware required to complete the installation.

What do you plan on using your front hitch for?

Thank you. I have a SnowSport brand lightweight plow that I used on my older Tacoma. That Curt hitch was a work of art. Made the truck look very cool.

I installed mine after some hesitation. I have a Tacoma Hybrid TRD off road. It reduces the ground clearance and my biggest issue is that the cross bar on the hitch mount covers the bolts to the (factory) under armor. I crafted a bypass plate to allow me to take off/on my engine protection without altering the hitch assay. Wish they would have taken the bolts that are stock on my Off Road package into consideration. Also my armor is aftermarket aluminum (I replaced the thick plastic OEM) and it's taken me a while to figure out how to make both the hitch and armor to work. Some cutting of the armor and offsetting the bolts was needed but I got it to work without welding/cutting or altering the hitch or Tacoma. I got a receiver with a skid plate for rocky terrain that I now live in. PS: to answer your question. I took off the plastic air dam and it did not affect my milage and gives me better ground clearance. I put the hitch on to mount a winch so I can use it either front or back. Tuff decision and have not needed it yet so can't give you actual experience with if I would do it again or not.
