What is the Recommended Replacement Converter Section for a Progressive Dynamics 8300 Panel

Updated 06/01/2026 | Published 05/25/2026

Question:

Hello. I am a ETrailer customer and appreciate what you do. I have a 2015 Airstream International 25’ vin 1STJFYJ24FJ531966 The converter is buzzing. I think it is the transformer. When I move it the buzzing stops but I also see on my eviction app the charge to the battery is erratic. The converter is a Progressive Dynamics 8300 55amp Model 8355. Do you have a replacement board available? I also have solar panels and lithium batteries. So, a solar battery option would be nice. Thanks. My number is 262 968-4067 if you need to call. We are traveling in Wisconsin through August. Thanks so much.

We appreciate you Wayne, welcome back!

The Progressive Dynamics PD8355 converter section can be replaced without replacing the entire power center. For lithium batteries, I recommend upgrading to the Progressive Dynamics # PD4655v Replacement Converter Section, which is rated for 55 amps and is specifically designed for charging lithium batteries.

Erratic battery charging and buzzing, sound like the converter section may be failing. Before replacing it, I would recommend checking all AC and DC connections to ensure nothing has loosened over time but if moving the converter changes the noise and charging behavior, replacement is likely the best solution.

Let me know if you have any additional questions and safe travels my friend.

What stops in Wisconsin are you excited to visit most?

Hi James. Do you have it in stock? How much? We are campground hosting for Wisconsin State Park at Willow River in Hudson WI. It and Peninsula State Park are our favorite spots.

I’ve been asked to comment, FWIW: We were in New Mexico when our inverter gave out. Was able to quickly get a PD4655V from etrailer and do the remove and replace in the camp ground at Bottomless Lake in a few minutes. Easy as falling off a log. It’s supporting all our electrical needs in a 17’ Casita modified to include 300 ah lithium battery pwr (230 watts solar)

The part was an EXACT replacement for my old one. very quick install at the campground and the lights were back on converted shore power! From my experience it buzzes when the capacitors are faulty. It's trying to charge the RV's battery, run 12V lights. start your hot water heater and even kick your air conditioner on. When shore power cant pass the capacitors the short in the capacitors buzzes until they pop on top. Then you're only on battery for all the things I mentioned above. Replce it as soon as you can. you'll be thankful you did. A friend of mines caught on fire... just remember if your in doubt, replace it!
