Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Replacement Converter Section for the Progressive Dynamics 4,000 Series RV Power Control Center. Now, this part here will replace the converter section that's on the 45 Amp Progressive Dynamics 4,000 Series and Telepower Converter. This will fit the part number PD4045KA. Now, the power converter will deliver DC power to and to charge your batteries for recreational vehicles, 12 volt lighting and applying circuits. This unit here has a built in charge wizard which is a four stage charging system, constantly monitors the batteries and it'll automatically adjust your converter output voltage based on the battery's charge status.
The converter chargers capable of charging multiple batteries at the same time and it can also charge different capacity batteries at one time. This one here does include a switch to allow charging of lithium batteries. They do have built in features on this to ensure long term reliability. It'll offer electronic current limiting which will automatically reduce the output voltage to prevent overheating. It offers reverse polarity protection which prevents charger damage if your connections are accidentally reversed.
It has high voltage, low voltage protection and it'll prevent damage from AC input voltage fluctuation and it also offers automatic thermal protection which will protect from damage due to excessive heat and also, if you notice right here, you can see it has this variable speed intelligent cooling fan which will only operate under high heat conditions. It is also GFCI protected, helps prevent ground fault interruptions and it is UL listed. Few specs on this unit, input voltage is 105 to 130 volts AC, output voltage is 13.6 volts DC and the wattage on this is 725 Watts, power draw of 45 amps. But, that should do it for the review on this Replacement Converter Section for the Progressive Dynamics 4,000 Series RV Power Control Center..
I have shopped (a lot)via the net for this converter as a replacement. My previous one is not defective but does not have the "voltage bump" for Lithium Batteries. etrailer was the only one that had in the description (picture) the confirmation that it was lithium ready.
The switch was very easy, even though the instructions from the manufacturer are very generic.
Shipment to Canada was straightforward.
Installed with ease. I fipped the Li switch on. So far so good. My RV is holding a charge of 14.2, and the battery fuse has not tripped, allowing recharging without my intervention.
So far so good. Progressive Dynamics puts a tab on the sheet metal so you can't just slide the old one out and the new one in. But it can be worked around.

So far it has been working as promised.
This little replacement converter tray was a perfect idea when faced with the thought of having to pull the entire unit from the trailer. I procrastinated the install because I thought it was going to be difficult, while laying across the RV floor. It was in and hooked up within 15 minutes and began charging the batteries again.
My replacement order has arrived fast after the first one lost somehow. It looks good so far. Customer service was so helpful and arranged replacement shipping very fast. Package is well formed and part looks very good and new.

it’s working perfectly.
Paper wrap did not keep the item secure since the paper was not wrapped around the converter. The box and bag had damage from the corner of the crt board hitting the inside of the box. I don’t think that this caused damage to the part but showed the “rough” handling by the delivery service.
Works great with the lithium battery upgrade in my 2011 camper.
I needed this upgraded board to charge lithium batteries. This unit has a dip switch that allows charging of LA or LI batteries.
The installation was very straightforward, the hardest part was lying on the floor to access the power distribution system.
Have to activated it yet, waiting for my battery to arrive.
Remember, if switching from LA to LI, you need to change the on board trickle charger ( this unit) and the solar charge controller.
Very easy to install and it seems to correct the loud hum that I had with the old converter.
It was the correct one. It arrived in a timely manner, consistent with the stated delivery date. It was in perfect condition. And I plan to use y'all the next time a customers part is not an emergency, or I can't get it locally. You'll be the first site I go to. Thank you

Still converting and charging.
Easy installation. Working as it's supposed to. My lithium battery is happy.
I fried the inverter in my camper. Finally figured out which one to order and ordered from Etrailer. It works great! The folks at Etrailer are very helpful and good to work with. Thanks!
Easy swap out with the old converter. Everything working great.
It’s not exactly the best for lithium battery, i have to shut it down when the battery are full

That doesn't sound normal and a pain in the butt. I have a few questions for you Marc. Do you happen to know what model of battery you have and if your battery has a Battery Management System? Most newer models of lithium batteries will have one built in, if yours does have a BMS, and its not working, I would take the battery to your local auto repair shop to be checked.
Product works great at keeping the newly installed lithium batteries charged.
Easy install. Still using it on the LA setting but expect to upgrade to Li later this year.
Etrailer is great
I just finished installing an RV converter charger into my truck camper along with a new lithium battery bank.
As I had read the conversion was easy. E trailer processed the order quickly and the package came a day early.
The install took me 45 min.
This is my second order with them, good job.

Great service, and customer support. Highly recommended
After speaking directly to a technical representative of Progressive Dynamics about the high pitch noise I was provided 2 different options to address the issue:replace the fan the likely culprit or the entireI was confident replace the converter section, which I did. ETrailer had the exact item which was easy to replace. The high pitched noise was thankfully addressed.
part was easy to find and it got here when promised
You folks did good once again for me

Thanks Rick, we enjoy the opportunity to be your go-to!
Great price, paid extra for the fast shipping and was delivered on time! Definitely recommend.
Thanks for your quick delivery on the PD4045CSV. My installation saved me $330 + what the local RV dealer would have overcharged me to replace it. Thanks to Progressive Dynamics and e-trailer for the easy to replace part.
Carol - Thank you for writing and YES just a short time ago received the unit. I'm planning to install it this week and will definitely write a review. First impressions: VERY positive!
Something you may not know about the existing Progressive Dynamics PD4045: I am a very active Amateur Radio "ham" operator and my RV camper is the location of my primary radio station. I am a member of a club with many other radio hams who have campers. Other hams have reported that the DC converter units in their campers generate a great deal of Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) to their radio operations. But the Progressive Dynamics units are as quiet as a mouse when it comes to radio interference. This equates to careful engineering design and production on PD's part and is much appreciated by the ham radio community. (I will mention this in my review of the Replacement Converter Section.)

Used it between April and November 2025. It works properly in my camper. On one occasion after several days of bad weather. When I finally had shore power, I heard the cooling fan work for one rare occasion I guess the battery charger was sucking up more power. It is not very loud or annoying at all. It was just that quiet where I was, that I could hear it.
