Question:
Traveling to AK this summer and considering taking extra leaf spring/s along. I have a 2023 Keystone Cougar Half -Ton 23MLE fifth wheel with 4400lb. DEXTER axles. The leaf springs are 4 leaf and are 26 eye-to-eye. Per your website it appears Part Number DX95CR is the correct one? Please advise. Thanks.

Hello again dale! Yes, the Dexter # DX95CR will work as a spare for your 2023 Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 23MLE. The 25-1/4" length listed is the unloaded length, and since trailer leaf springs typically flatten and stretch slightly under load, it is very common for the installed measurement to be closer to 26".
Between the spare leaf springs and the wet bolt kit we talked about before you should be in pretty good shape for your Alaska trip.

In the last 2 months, I just replaced 2 broken, 2200 lb. leaf springs for the 4400 lb. axle. (Went on a 4200-mile camping trip). They are on a 2017 Forest River travel trailer. This trailer has an estimated 38,000 miles on it. The measurement was 25 1/4 inches at center of bolt holes. Springs fit perfect. Received springs from etrailer. I was told by a Dexter Axle dealer that Dexter stopped making the 4400 lb. axle in year 2022. They continued shipping stock supply to trailer company's until gone. With that, how long will spring supplier's keep making a 2200 lb. spring when axle is no longer made. If a person wants to keep using this size spring, may want to have 1 or 2 extra's if they plan on keeping their trailer for long period of time and put a lot of miles on. If making a trip to Alaska, spring may not be readily available.
