Hey William, thanks for reaching out. For carrying a mobility scooter with your 2020 Subaru Forester, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e83ZR. This has a standard 2" receiver which will work with virtually any scooter carrier. plus it has a 525 lb tongue weight capacity which covers really any scooter and carrier combination - even more heavy-duty scooters.

As far as a carrier for the scooter, what I recommend is the Erickson Aluminum Mobility / Cargo Carrier # EM34JV. It's very lightweight - only about 62 lbs, plus it has a built in ramp for loading and unloading. It can carry scooters weightin up to 400 lbs too. You'll just want to make sure your scooter will fit on the 50" long x 30" wide platform and you'll be good to go.

etrailer trailer hitch receiver, is very simple to install, strong and very well constructed. I installed myself in a Subaru Forester hybrid 2026. I am using to carry the spare tire.

Great hitch I carry 2 100lb ebikes and the rack is 80lb the black widow you will be pleased it's very sturdy if you have a lift it will make the install easier and I used a hammer to enlarge the holes for the plates so I could still use factory grommets

@Paul Thanks for the review, Paul! That's a pretty serious load between a 100 lb e-bike and an 80 lb rack, so it's great to hear the hitch is handling it without any issues. I also appreciate the install tips about using a lift and modifying the plate holes to keep the factory grommets in place.
