Welcome back, Thomas!

The Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock for Kuat Transfer Bike Racks - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # HLT actually will not fit the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU64FR, so I think that may be the issue you are running into. It can only be used with racks that were manufactured before 2021.

To lock the Transfer V2 onto a hitch, you will want something like the TowSmart Hitch Receiver Locking Pin w/Cap - 1/2" and 5/8" Diameter # TS24VR. You should not be using a threaded pin with the rack you have.

What kind of bikes are you carrying? And have you tried a standard hitch pin?

I have a Kuat hitch pin with a lock and key, similar to the one in the photo you provided. Unfortunately that provides zero security. I bought the one that I inquired about because it was a bit more heavy duty and was threaded.

@Thomas Gotcha. Can I ask why the other pin and lock wasn't providing any security?

@LazerS it can be easily cut.

@Thomas Gotcha. Basically all pins can be cut, but I do know what you mean. Unfortunately, there isn't really a way around that with this rack though. I will also say that the vast majority of people that will try and steal racks look for the ones that are not locked first. They don't want to make noise as noise draws attention, and they definitely don't want to draw attention to themselves. A lock, even a not very good one, is still a pretty good deterrent.
