Is there an Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock for a Kuat Bike Rack That Fits the Wider 2" Toyota Receiver?

Updated 09/17/2025 | Published 09/09/2025

Question:

I have a Kuat bike rack with what looks like the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock for Kuat Transfer Bike Racks - 1-1/4inch and 2inch Hitches Part Number: HLT pin. Unfortunately my new Toyota 2025 Tacoma hitch is a little bit wider than my older 2019 Tacoma and the pin which is 4 inches long, not including the nut head is not long enough for my lock to fit on the end. It needs to be 41/2 inches. Will the Threaded Hitch Pin for Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device - 4-1/2inch Part Number: TH62RE which is ½” longer fit on my Kuat rack and allow the Kuat end lock to fit in the Kuat lock? It looks like it will from the picture, but…..

Hey James. The Threaded Hitch Pin for Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device item # TH62RE you were looking at has different threads than the item # HLT so it won't work on a Kuat bike rack. Kuat does not have an extended anti rattle hitch pin that's compatible with the new 2" receiver on the 2025 Tacoma's.

If you can get the threaded portion out of your Kuat bike racks shank you can use our etrailer Hitch Pin Lock item # e98881 to mount and secure it. This is the only option currently available.

Which Kuat bike rack do you have?

The number on the Kuat bile rake is TS02G ACIAB...Several years old but in great condition! I guess there is no point in asking why the manufacturers all make different threads instead of just using the standard thread...why ask why... I need it to screw in because thats what keeps it secure and snug to the hitch. The threads are part of the whole attachment assembly so there is no way to remove the threads. Looks like I bought a pig in a poke when I bought my new truck. Who would have thought a 1/2 inch would have been so critical. I even thought about cutting it in half and then adding a 1/2 " piece to the center so it could extend enough to fasten my lock onto it...but I felt that was too radical. Thanks for letting me know. Saved me from buying and returning with disappointment.
