Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Kuat hitch lock for two inch hitches. So whether you need to replace the hitch lock that came with your bike rack or maybe you're upgrading from a hitch pin that did not have a lock at the end, this is going to be the part for you. So first, make sure you get the right part for the right bike rack. So this is designed to be used with a two inch shank versions of the Kuat Sherpa 2.0, Kuat Transfer 2.0 or Kuat NV 2.0. So if you happen to have the inch and a quarter version, even if you use an adapter, you need the inch and a quarter hitch pin instead. This includes the hitch pin and the lock.
And if you do have the inch and a quarter version, that's actually okay because the lock is interchangeable. So this fits into that inch and a quarter hitch pin or the two inch hitch pin and provides that security at the end. So this is designed as either a replacement part, we have the older hitch lock for our Kuat Sherpa that came with the bike rack here or this can be used as an upgrade. So we have the Kuat high/low adaptor that did not include a lock and we want one to make sure our whole system is protected. So here are the changes to the design.
You do have a larger barrel, but it is interchangeable as we saw earlier. I do like the improvement to the dust cap design. So this clicks into place versus the rubber dust cap that the old hitch lock had. We kind of have to push it in, get in place, a little bit more of a hassle. With the keys in, we're in the ready to load position, but you cannot take the keys out.
You have to lock the barrel in order to remove the keys. And because the barrel is now in the locked position, you are unable to put that hitch lock in there. And that's good because then you don't accidentally lock your hitch lock without having your keys on hand. So now with the keys in the barrel and it's in the unlocked position, I just need to get the hitch lock, push either the barrel onto the lock or the pin onto the barrel and now you are secure. I'm not fiddling around making sure it's all lined up.
I can just go and tighten down my bike rack. So the dimensions of this pin is for the diameter, it's gonna be a half inch pin and then for the length of the pin, it's gonna be five and three quarter inches long. Now the span, which is your usable pin length, is measured from the barrel to inside the pin and that measurement is going to be three and a half inches. Included with your hitch pin and your lock, is also a little burlap bag where you can store things in. You have your two keys, this is keyed alike and you have a little bottle opener key chain. This hitch lock works very well with my Kuat Sherpa bicycle rack. The feature I like best is you don’t need to use a key to install the lock on the pin. You just have to snap the lock on. I also like the keyhole cover on the lock. My lock arrived very quickly, as well.
This could not be any easier. Buy this. It gives me comfort to have my bike rack locked when I am biking - just in case. Or if I wanted to leave my rack on overnight. Also, easier to use than the locking pin that comes with the rack.
The bolt thickness does not fit with the Kuat Transfer v2 1 bike rack but the lock still works with the thinner bolt included with the rack

Purchased this for my kuat 1-1/4" rack with adapter but it does not fit. Contacted etrailer and got the smaller version which works great. Good customer service.
I initally ordered a Hollywood hitch lock and it did not work, it was junk. The CS rep (Adam) at etrailer refunded my money and I ordered a Kuat hitch lock from etrailier. Guess what? The Kuat hitch lock did not work. Just spoke to another etraler CS rep (Hanna) and she is sending me out a replacement. I understand one lock, but both locks did not function; disappointed to say the least. Does anyone at etrailer do any quality control with your vendors? As a distributor, you are what you sell.
I knew nothing about trailer hitches, but they made it very easy for me to get one installed. I needed it, raised up a little bit which they did, and I am very happy with their service and the hitch itself.
Love this bike rack! It doesn’t take up too much room, but provides the necessary support to hold the bike. Still has held up after a year of light use. My only complaint about the bike rack is that the design allows the front tire to move around while attached. I was able to remedy this by purchasing a strap to secure it a bit better. But overall, I’m very happy with my purchase.
Works perfectly. On a recent 1400 mile round trip I spent the night in a hotel and didn't worry that my rack would be gone if I left it connected to the hitch overnight. The diameter of this pin is 1/2 inch which is smaller than the 5/8 inch pin that came with the rack. The anti-rattle feature in the rack was able to eliminate the slop that would have been present had there been no anti-rattle feature.
The larger bolt won't work with the 2 inch hitch so you have to use the smaller one that comes with the rack. That's a pretty significant design oversight. I use the smaller bolt but I have to strap down the whole lock assembly so it doesn't rattle. So the rack is great but the lock is kind of a pain...
Great easy to use lock. Quick shipping which is nice when you lose your old lock.
The hitch lock is easy to use, however it was also easy to remove by a thief, I had my KÜAT bike rack stolen.

I would love to say that hitch locks are 100 percent fool proof however I consider them to be theft deterrents. It will help to prevent a crime of opportunity. If a thief is determined enough a lock can be circumvented.
Great shipping response and a quality i tem!
The lock works fine and is easy to install, but the diameter of the lock pin (1/2") is smaller than the diameter of the bike rack's original hitch pin (5/8"), so the lock pin moves around in the hitch hole. It doesn't seem very secure.

I didn’t receive the product because I didn’t add my apartment number. That’s on me. But I reached out with enough time for Ashley from e trailers to reach out to the local holding facility to have them hold the package there for pick up but she didn’t make any attempts at problem solving or trying to find a solution to not have the package get sent back to the sender for an insufficient address. I’ve unfortunately made this mistake before with companies who have reached out to the carrier organization to hold the package so I know it’s doable. I paid $[XX] for the product and $[XX] for shipping. $[XX] total.. the refund I received back from etrailors was $[XX].. so I got charged over $[XX] dollars for it shipping back to the sender.. it took them 22 days to issue the “refund” with me reaching out multiple times in search of my refund.. it is my fault for missing my apartment number but what would be cool is that if this is in your bio from the emails you send out “Whether it entails piecing together the perfect package to get the job at hand done, or working to come to a resolution if there's an issue, I am up for the task!”……..then be about it.
I lost the hitch pin for my Kuat bike rack. etrailer had a Kuat replacement for less money than Kuat web site. Also shipping was fast!
One of my kuat hitches did not come with the covered lock cap. So appreciated the one that did for all the dust we travel sometimes. Thanks also for the bottle openers!
All good. I did find both the cable lock on my Transfer V2 rack *and* the locking hitchpin were keyed alike, even though I had purchased my rack from a local vendor a couple of weeks before purchasing the hitchpin lock from etrailer. That coincidence made me wonder if a single key would open any Kuat cable or hitchpin lock.
Kuat advised me differently keyed bolts are available to swap out of each lock, and taking that extra step eased my mind about the security of the rack.
All in all, a good experience with both etrailer and Kuat.
I’m using this hitch lock with my Kuat Transfer v2 2-bike rack. I have a 2-inch hitch receiver. This lock fits my system and works very well. I made my order with etrailer on 5/27. Etrailer sent tracking info right away so I could track my order to delivery. My lock arrived on 6/1. I couldn’t have had a better experience. Price point and shipping cost were ideal, too.
