Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2023 Acura RDX Advance
Updated 05/07/2026 | Published 05/01/2026 >
Question:
Which 2 Hitch do you recommend for a 2023 Acura Advanced RDX? I need it for a 2 bike carrier 3 bikes and a flat carrier for carrying a tub and battery. Prefer it to be as hidden as much as possible without interfering with spare tire removal and I understand the foot auto opening of the back door is spotty. I do not want to put any adapters or extensions on the hitch that allow.it to protruding out further. Thank you

Hey Steve, I would recommend the etrailer hitch part # e72AR for your 2023 Acura RDX Advance. This will fit with your spare and also would not require any adapters or extenders when carrying a hitch mounted accessory. Do you have the carriers and bike racks already? I attached a picture below of hitch installed with a spare stowed as well as it shows that hitch sticks out far enough.

Spare tire? I wasn't that lucky, I have a 2021 Tech RDX and all I got was the air pump in the floorboard. I installed this myself and it took me a little longer than it probably should have. I did have to drop the exhaust off the rubber brackets to get enough clearance. I had one bolt hole that didn't line up just a hair, so I struggled to get that last bolt in. You are going to need some boxes and/or cords to suspend the hitch in air while you are inserting the bolts. It's too heavy to try and hold up there and put a bolt in at the same time. FYI, this install calls for a torc wrench. You can borrow one for free from Auto Zone with a returnable deposit. That saved me having to buy one. I couldn't be more happy with my hitch. I bought a $500 Harbor Freight 4x8 trailer which I floored and put rails on. I use it to haul my small boat. I can't tell you how many couches, appliances, gear, bulky items I have moved with this entire set up. Just knowing that if you run across something too big to fit in the SUV, you can just hook up that trailer and go get it. Oh, and get yourself a LED brake light insert for the hitch, it looks so cool at night.

This is the one I purchased for my 2019 RDX. I didnt have to remove anything, bolted right in. I use it for bike hauler. It took about 30 min to install.

Steve, I installed an etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" Part Number: e72AR on my 2025 Acura RDX Advanced. I removed the spare tire for installation only and it does fit fine with the hitch installed. I use the hitch for a 2 bike rack and it is more than solid for this application. There is no need for an extender for the rack since the hitch extends a few inches beyond the bumper. I was going to attach a pic, but they don't have an option for that.

I am not sure which one I bought but it works great. Installed myself on a 2022 RDX, not hard. We use it for a four bike, bike rack. The 2022 RDX does not have a spare, they set you up with a can of tire inflater. I would recommend the hitch from Etraiiler, built strong, easy to install, using it for bikes but could just as easily pull something else. Thanks, KF

I put one on my 2020 RDX, but my compact spare would not go back in no matter how I tried to put it in the opening just to warn you. I use mine to tow a small motorcycle trailer. I ended up putting the trailer spare in the opening since it was a smaller tire. I just carry a small compressor and a plug kit for the vehicle if needed. Hope this helps.
