Will a Trailer Hitch Affect the Hands-Free Liftgate on a 2020 Acura RDX?

Question:
I want to install a tow hitch for my 2020 Acura RDX Advanced Package with a kick sensor for my trunk. Will your hitch accommodate the sensor?

Robert, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e72AR is a confirmed fit for your 2020 Acura RDX Advanced Package, but I do want to set the right expectation regarding the hands-free liftgate feature. Because the hitch receiver installs in the same area as the factory kick sensor, there is a chance the sensor's functionality could be reduced or even lost after installation. I know that's probably disappointing to hear, especially since the hands-free liftgate is such a convenient feature.
That said, many RDX owners have found that the sensor will still work by moving their foot to either side of the receiver rather than directly under the center of the bumper. Since the sensor's response can vary from vehicle to vehicle, there is unfortunately no way to guarantee exactly how much functionality will remain once the hitch is installed. And we do not currently carry a hitch option for the RDX that is guaranteed to preserve the factory kick sensor functionality, I wish we did!
If keeping the hands-free liftgate feature is a high priority, Acura does offer a Hands-Free Access Sensor Attachment, part number 08U59-TYA-200A, which is designed to relocate the sensor's activation area to work better with an installed hitch. We do not currently carry that kit, but it may be worth looking into through your Acura dealer.
What will you be using the hitch for first, bikes, a cargo tray, or towing?

Thank you, Heather, for your input. I'll have to look into that sensor. In addition, if I wanted to install wiring, would you happen to know which wiring I would need if I provide you with my VIN (5J8TC2H78LL027906)?
