@JamesonC Super - can you verify if this has been tested to work on the SEL R-Line Turbo trim? I take it this is the "plug & play"?

Hey Joe, we have confirmed that the Curt hitch part # C99RJ fits all models of the 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan including the SEL R-Line Turbo models. When you say plug and play do you mean is there no drilling or welding? If so, this is true there is no frame drilling or welding.

That's great re the hitch. Re "plug and play," I actually meant to ask about the wiring harness, C56RJ, and when that might become available. Sorry for the confusion on that. Do you know if the C56RJ wiring harness will work as "plug and play" on the SEL R-Line Turbo R-trim? I'm sure that others are eager to hear when that might be available so please keep us updated.

@JoeT did you get this hitch to fit your 2026 Tiguan Turbo? I've been unsuccessful at fitting it. Did you find an alternate solution?

i’m having a difficult time fitting this hitch to the 2026 SEL R Turbo. As i’ve seen in some other comments/threads, the brackets are too short to clear exhaust pipes. I wish this had been specified.

@DillonB is it close at all? Like if the exhaust hangers were bent or different rubber isolators were used there would be enough clearance?

@JamesonC unfortunately not. I've been speaking with Matthew on your team and the folks at CURT who produce the hitch and it appears this hitch (likely) does not fit the 2026 SEL R Turbo models of Tiguans. I am waiting on confirmation from CURT. The exhaust pipes at 44" from end to end, the hitch is 42.5 or 43 at it's widest point. Even with the outward winged shape of the arms, theres no way to get around both exhaust pipes.

@Dillon Yes, I had it installed professionally and they reported no problems. Even the lift gate foot sensor works, no problem. I’ll see if I can find the receipt to verify the model but I am pretty certain it was a Curt. Now if I could just get a wiring harness….

For anyone this may help - this hitch DOES fit the 2026 SEL R Turbo Tiguan but requires removal of the exhaust in the back of the vehicle. The installation video and instructions provided to registered installers of this hitch are inaccurate. It also requires cutting into the bumper (as is detailed in the video).
