Will Curt Trailer Hitch for 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Handle Lateral Forces on Bumpy Roads
Updated 03/31/2026 | Published 03/25/2026 >
Question:
The hitch receiver is ony attached to the upper section by a flat plate on either side. This looks like it might not be strong enough to support lateral forces imposed by a bike rack on a bumpy road. Have there been any complaints about this from purchasers of this hitch product?

Hi Edward; as long as you don't exceed the 200 lb tongue weight capacity of the Curt # C77ER it will be fine on bumpy roads. Curt accounts for this when they rate the hitch and we haven't had any issues reported from other customers.
What kind of bike rack are you carrying?
