Best Trailer Hitch For 2007 Volvo V70R

Updated 02/15/2026 | Published 02/06/2026

Question:

Hello - Im attempting to find a compatible hitch for my 2007 volvo V70R, but have found inconsistent information online. It seems as though the bodywork specific to this vehicle may prohibit installation of hitches that may work on the generic V70 model. Have any of your customers had success with an install on a V70R?

Hey Milo, thanks for reaching out. We do have a trailer hitch that fits the 2007 Volvo V70R. For that you will need the following:

- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" # C12318

Curt confirms this to fit the 2007 V70. Also, we have had a few of our own customers with your exact vehicle report back to us that it fits the V70R model without issue. Take a look at the review I snipped below.

The hitch has a 1-1/4" receiver, a 3,500 lb towing rating and 350 lb tongue weight rating.

What will you be using the hitch for?

Great! I'm hoping to tow a u-haul motorcycle trailer - is there a hitch you'd recommend that'd keep the trailer level?

@Milo Sure thing! The hitch on your V70R will ride a bit low compared to the coupler height on a U-haul trailer so you will want a ball mount with about 5" of rise. Here is what I recommend: - Curt Class II Drawbar - 5" Rise - 9-5/8" Long - 3,500 lbs # C45014 - etrailer Trailer Hitch Pin and Clip for 1-1/4" Hitches - 1/2" Diameter x 2-1/2" Span # e95TR - 2" Hitch Ball - 3/4" Diameter x 2-1/8" Long Shank - Chrome - 3,500 lbs # C40018

I ordered and installed the trailer hitch for our 2005 Volvo XC70. I cannot imagine that it is any different than your V70R. The engine should be the only difference between the two models. The install was even easier because there is not the need to run the long wire up to the battery under the front hood. The battery is located in the rear access where you run your wires for your trailer wiring. That is a 'perk' in this case! So, count your blessings! There are a couple of blank ports with rubber plugs for you to run your wiring. That was great so no drilling required. This company knows what quality is all about. I'd invest in them if I knew how to do it. I've ordered from them several times over the years and they have never let me down. So, an unsolicited compliment along with a testimonial re: installation. All the very best, Mike

@MikeB Mike, thank you very much for taking the time to share this. I really appreciate the detailed installation feedback, especially the notes about the rear battery location and the factory rubber plugs. That kind of real world insight is incredibly helpful for other Volvo owners considering the same install. It is great to hear the process went smoothly and that no drilling was required. Even better to hear we have earned your trust over the years. That means a lot to our entire team. Thank you again for the kind words and continued support. If you ever need anything down the road, you know where to find me.

Hey Milo, The hitch I picked up from etrailer was an exact match for my Volvo XC70. No holes needed to be drilled and it was a VERY easy installation. Remember to order the light kit as well. Everything was shipped and delivered just as etrailer had stated. I received the hitch in the mail Friday afternoon and on Saturday morning 5am trailered the wave runner to Cape Cod with it. Highly recommend this company!

@Paul Glad to hear the hitch was an exact match for your Volvo XC70 and that the install went smoothly with no drilling required. That is always great news! Sounds like it went straight to work. Cape Cod at 5am is a pretty great way to break in a new hitch. Thanks again for the recommendation, and if anything else comes up down the road, feel free to reach out!
