Do Gaps Need to Get Filled When Installing Blue Ox Hitch BLU72UR

Updated 02/09/2026 | Published 01/20/2026

Question:

I have a 2025 Odyssey. I would like to know how to seal air gaps around required cutouts. Internal or external solutions. It looks impractical to Install and remove the hitch to avoid the cutouts. Thanks in advance.

Hey Warren, which cut outs specifically are you referring to? The trimming of the lower fascia panel to allow the hitch to fit? There's not really any way to do that nor would I understand what you'd hope to gain by that but I'm open minded if you wanted to help me understand.

Thanks. I figure the cut lower fascia panel would vibrate and allow debris to enter. Maybe critters or increase noise. Also the psychological hurdle of cutting on my new minivan.

@WarrenB I see what you mean. Generally speaking that doesn't happen too much. You shouldn't hear or feel any vibrations.

@JamesonC I think there are risks of facia splintering too. In any event my concerns are slowing my decision making.

@WarrenB as long as the cuts are done properly you shouldn't have to worry about splintering.
