Does Roadmaster Invisibrake System Require Installing Diodes too

Updated 01/06/2026 | Published 01/02/2026

Question:

Currently have 2018 wrangler jl and want to know about moving invisibrake. I looked at install video and parts for second vehicle install but didnt see any wiring going to taillights. The current install required splicing 3 way diodes into the vehicle wiring. Is there a seperate part number for the taillight wiring, diodes etc?

Hey William, so what you are describing sounds like two different kits installed on the Wrangler for flat towing. The braking solution which is the Invisibrake part # RM-8700 and the diode lighting kit that wires to the taillights. These are separate systems and don't interact with each other but you do need both to safely flat tow.

For a diode lighting kit that fits though you'd want the Roadmaster kit part # RM-15267. Do you have a tow bar and base plate kit already?

We have not bought a new wrangler yet. Just getting info to see what I need. Not sure if the equipment (base plate, tow bar) from the 18 wrangler can be installed on 2025. If original equipment will work, I will remove and reinstall as this was easiest part of install. If not, can you give me part #s? I believe the tow bar is a Nighthawk with a gravel shield kit. I believe I previously ordered everything from etrailer.

@WilliamH The 2025 Jeep Wrangler uses a different base plate kit than what you already have. I checked your order notes and you have the RM-521450-4 from the old Jeep and the new one requires the part # RM55GR.
