Hey, everybody, Ryan here at Etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the etrailer.com trailer hitch cover. So right off the bat, this is gonna work with the two inch by two inch hitches, like we have here today on our Jeep, just as an example, and there's also a smaller inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter version available. So if you've got the smaller size hitch, there will be a plug that fits that as well, but really a super simple part, and it's designed for a couple of different reasons. You know, one of 'em being to help keep dirt and junk from getting inside of the receiver tube here, help keep it in good shape, whether. You know, it's debatable how well that actually works, but in my opinion, it's definitely not gonna hurt anything as far as that goes.
So might extend the life of your hitch, especially if you use this, you know, when your hitch is new, like ours today, but more importantly, I think that this is mainly for the appearance. I think it makes it look a whole lot better and a lot more finished. So as opposed to just having that open tube there, you know, this pops in, (plastic smacking) and to me I like the looks of it, kind of gives it more of a clean appearance, and with this being made out of rubber, it can potentially kind of soften a blow too. You know, some hitches stick out past the bumper quite a bit, and if you we're to happen to kind of bump your leg or something while you're getting into your trunk or dropping your tailgate, not gonna hurt as bad. Like I said, this is made from rubber and one of the nice things about it is you don't need a pin and clip or tools or anything to use it.
You know, it's a press fit, and it's a tight fit at that. So that's all you gotta do to put it in there and pull it right out, and these seem to hold up pretty well. I can actually speak from personal experience. My father's had one of these for probably two and a half, three years now, and it hasn't dry rotted. You know, it still goes in there well and comes out just like it did when it was brand new, and he don't park in the garage either.
He lives on a country gravel road. So it's out in the sun all day getting beat up, and so it seems to hold up, at least so far. So can't really go wrong there. You know, there's a ton of different styles of hitch covers on the market, and this is probably one of the more simple ones. Probably gonna last longest in terms of it holding up, but in case you're looking for something a little bit different, you got kind of this style, which kind of doubles as a four-way flat trailer wiring holder as well.
So I just have this other cover on hand that would kind of plug in into there trailer wiring and be able to keep it stored, if you will, and the way these work is they go around your hitch share and then push in, which is pretty cool. You know, you kind of, you get that holder in there. My thought, though, with these, you know, it's nice that this can stay on there. You can plug your accessory in. You don't have to keep track of it or anything, but I don't really see that lasting too long to be quite frank with you because that part of the rubber is relatively thin. It's kind of a high wear area. I could eventually see this probably cracking and tearing and then, you know, you're kind of losing the function of that, but can't speak from personal experience. That's just my thought on it, and then if you're looking for some extra safety or a little extra lighting, you know, we have stuff like this too, which will illuminate, you know, when you're hitting your brakes and stuff. So that could go in with these. You know, a lot of 'em you're gonna need a pin and clip to keep it in place, but that push in there. You plug this part into your trailer wiring and you know, like I said, this will illuminate whenever you're applying your brakes. Other than that, at the end of the day, you know, there's really not a whole lot to it. It's gonna be a great way to help keep your hitch protected and look a little bit better whenever you're not using it.

Received on time. Small hole in the box but no damage. Easy install with the provided instructions.
It’s a good idea to cover your receiver when not towing especially in high road salt areas.
I used this on the front of the hitch receiver so the square tube doesn't get rusty.
I'm glad I found etrailer.com for my trailering needs! Just received my ball mount with 2"ball and hitch cover for my 05 Ford F-150 FX4 Supercrew and I was impressed with the solid quality of both my items. Just ordered a hitch lock and I'm sure it will be of excellent quality AS WELL!! Fast shipping and items were packaged really well!!
I highly recommend etrailer for your towing needs!!!!
I ordered the Curt hitch for my 2018 Acura MDX. It fit perfectly though the rubber hanger for the exhaust had to be moved over about a 1/2” to allow the hitch to be lifted into position. The job would have been easier if my car was on a lift and I had another pair of hands. I had neither so I had to improvise. I put the hitch on a dolly and moved it into position under the car. Using shims, I raised the hitch high enough on one side to get the bolts started. Note, I followed the instructions and cleaned and greased the 6 bolt holes. After getting the bolts on one side started I shimmed up the other side. This is where the rubber exhaust hanger got in the way. Using a wonder bar I levered the hanger out of the way until the hitch flange cleared it. I inserted the 3 bolts and tightened them down. I then tightened the bolts on the side I had attached first. One of the bolts would not screw in all the way. After repeated attempts to clean the whole the bolt still would not go in all the way. Not sure what the problem is. Will have a mechanic take a look at it the next time my car is on a lift.
I am a senior citizen and attaching the lift by myself with the car on the ground was a challenge as my aching back will attest to. Better to have another pair of helping hands and the car on a lift or ramps to ease the install.
We've made good use of your trailer hitch. The quality is excellent - very sturdy. We couldn't be happier
I was initially worried. But installing the new hitch was about as easy as it could get. Very solid construction.
The installation was fairly easy with the hardest part in getting the torque wrench positioned to allow for more than a small turn.
it’s rubber, it says eTrailer, it’s awe some!
This works great and fits snug. I have pulled it out several times to tow and replaced it. It has never fallen out. A little rust still gets into the tow hitch but nothing like I had before. I we live in an area that gets 70 to 100 inches of rain a year and I am right on the ocean so moisture is an issue but this trailer plug keeps he hitch pretty dry. I am very happen with it and suggest getting one if you want to keep yours clean and dry. The enclosed pictures are right after we had 2 inches of rain.
The shipping & delivery was on time. However, as this was a gift for my husband, I was beyond disappointed when I received the package in this condition (as shown on the picture below).
Installation time was very reasonable, just a bit longer than an hour, with two people. It was a simple installation, and based on the recommendation of another reviewer, I used a little of the Loctite blue threadlocker. The vehicle's bumper mount studs do extend a wee bit past the nuts after tightening down, so that was good. I plan to use the tow receiver for a bike rack and my ham radio antenna mast mount. Glad the instructions included the torque specifications included, and an etrailer video on YouTube was also extremely helpful in getting all the required tools ready. I feel pretty good about this installation. We have a 2018 Bolt and needed to cut a "T" shaped cutout on the fascia, basically a 5"x3" wide, then 3" x 5" long. The cut was centered and fits nicely. We noticed on the first cut that was undersized that it prevented popping the fascia back into place nicely, so a careful accurate cut to fit is important.
semi hard rubber makes this cover fit nice and snug in the hitch receiver so that it will not fall out.
One year later I'm extremely pleased with this purchase. I often chuckle when I see stock hitches and the whole thing is visible while mine is neatly tucked under with everything hidden except for the 2" receiver. 10/10 have recommended etrailer on many occasions to friends and family for their service and know-how. Since installing my hitch I towed a pop up camper 1500+kms and do frequent trips to the dump or my local dirt and gravel yard for supplies. Love it!
This hitch cover seats itself very well so no worries about it just falling out while driving.
Everything was great, the online instructional videos were easy to follow. This is not only a 5 star item, but a 5 star company as well. Shipping was fast only took about 4days to get here. I will only buy my parts from etrailer for now on.
After UPS delivered package to wrong address, the hitch arrived and installed exactly as represented. It would have been easier to install with a helper but I managed to install, single handed, in less than an 1 1/2 hr. Watching the install video on etrailer site made for a fairly simple job.
Very satisfied with product and with help provided by Julie H and Derek S in dealing with the UPS snafu.
Extremely easy process ordering hitch and arrived early.
Great product and fast delivery! Fits like a glove to my new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. To use with a KUAT bike rack.
Friendly and knowledgeable sales staff. I received my hitch in just a few days in good order. The box had a few holes due to shipping but that is expected. All parts were packaged securely and everything was there. Great quality product very sturdy with solid welds.
This is my second hitch purchase from e-Trailer. The hitch fits our 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid perfectly. I did the installation alone and had to use various means (blocks, tubs, straps) to hold it in place. Other folks recommended a second pair of hands. Probably a good suggestion. The hitch will allow us to add our bike rack and haul our bikes conveniently and safely.
Great product ,however the cap came off a few weeks later. It would be better if there was a string to attach to the hitch in the event it would come off.

The hitch is fine ,however the Hitch Rubber Cover Come off after a few weeks that I put it on. When I placed it didn’t look to secure in the slot, I didn’t make much of it but soon after realized that it was gone. It’s an expensive piece and something a manufacture size default could make the difference of staying on or falling off.

This cover installs in the 2" receiver hole to keep dirt out and provide a clean look...

Still working perfectly!
Like others have indicated, the hitch arrived with two parts of it that had punctured through the cardboard box and were exposed. However, I accepted the package as it came, and only very minor scratches to the paint were noted on the exposed portions of the hitch. There was no other damage (no bending, cracks in the welds, or anything) after my very careful inspection. I had the hitch professionally mounted to my 2021 Mazda CX-5. The fit was perfect, the installation went without a ...hitch...! Sorry, couldn't resist! Have used the hitch now with my two-bike rack, which was received by the hitch with no issues. There have been no noises of any kind, and no contact is being made between the hitch and any portion of the undercarriage of my Mazda. In summary, improvements can and should be made with the packaging and shipping of these heavy hitches, but otherwise my experience with all aspects of this hitch have been positive.

The etrailer hitch I bought and had installed a year ago has been flawless. I had to upgrade my original hitch as it would not support the weight of my new ebike rack along with two pretty heavy ebikes. Since then, it has been used many times with zero issues. I would definitely purchase an etrailer again based on this experience.
I went over to Valley Truck and Trailer and they had it waiting for me. I put it on the hitch when I got home and it looks great!

Just as expected. In good shape and performing as it did when I first got it.
