How to Determine if a Trailer has a Continuous Welded Steel Bumper
Updated 06/26/2014 | Published 06/25/2014 >
Question:
The specs for this bike rack list Built for continuous welded steel square bumpers at least 4inch and no more than 4-1/2inch wide. How do I know if my 27foot 2006 Crossroads Zinger Travel Trailer has a continuous welded steel bumper? I have attached a couple of pictures showing the mounted Rack. Can you please confirm if the setup looks ok. I learned the hard way that hitch mounted racks dont like the back of Travel Trailers but that is a story for a different time. I dont want to make the same mistake. This rack appears to be designed for the back of a travel trailer and I want to confirm that I didnt miss anything.

You will want to check all around the bumper for a weld seam that extends the entire length of the bumper. It would likely be at the back or bottom so I cannot tell from the pictures. You would also want to contact the trailer manufacturer and make sure the bumper is rated for weight carrying.
There are only certain racks that can be used at the back of a trailer like you said. We have a whole section dedicated just to the compatible racks. I have linked them for you.
