Having a propane or carbon monoxide gas leak in your RV is a scary situation that you don't want to even think about let alone experience. But this detector will give you peace of mind knowing that if there are dangerous levels of either, it'll quickly and accurately warn you and your family so you can get out of the RV and into fresh air.

Hard-to-Miss Visual and Audible Cues

When carbon monoxide is detected, the red LED will flash, and the horn will blare 4 times. When propane gas only or both propane and CO are detected, the red LED will come on, and the horn will be constant. And because the sensors are highly selective, they're designed to only sound the alarm for lethal gases, reducing the number of false alarms that occur in non-threatening scenarios.

It'll also alert you when the battery is low or when the detector has reached the end of its life and needs to be replaced, so you never have to be without protection.

Easy to Test and Silence

RV Safe Propane and CO Detector

To double check that the detector is operating normally, you can easily use the button on the front to test the propane sensor, carbon monoxide sensor, and battery voltage. You should test your detector every time it's taken out of storage and before it's taken out for each camping trip. This button also lets you silence the horn up to 5 minutes during non-life-threatening situations. So, you can turn off that annoying racket in the middle of the night while you're trying to hunt for a new battery.

Surface-Mount, Bolt-On Installation

RV Safe Detector Installed

The 2 included universal mounting brackets allow this detector to replace 90 percent of all OEM surface-mount and flush-mount detectors. This detector can replace most Atwood and Dometic branded detectors, as well as Safe-T-Alert 20 series, 25 series, 30 series, 35 series, 40 series, 45 series, and 65 series detectors.

Because propane gas is heavier than air, it'll settle near the floor, so this detector should be installed 4" to 18" from the floor to accurately detect the presence of gas. Also make sure that the detector is located in an area that isn't near a window or door, behind furniture or drapes, or in a closet. It also shouldn't be installed with 24" near a stove, oven, fridge, or furnace.

  • Recommended Replacement For An Atwood Propane Gas Detector 31013
Hi Brenda, The Atwood 31013 unfortunately has been discontinued so you'd need to go with a completely new LP gas detector. We have a couple of surface mount style detectors that come with trim rings that will cover the old unit's cutout hole so you won't have any ugly gaps to try and fill. They can come with either just LP detection or with Carbon Monoxide detection as well; and can be purchased in either white or black. Propane Gas Detection: White # RS64FR Black # RS44FR Propane Gas...

  • Recommended Replacement For An Atwood 33535E RV LP/CO2 Detector
The closest option we'll have to your Atwood 33535E LP/CO2 Detector is going to be the RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS54FR that you were already looking at. It comes with two mounting plates to try and eat up some of your old cutout hole. The dimensions are as follows: The long plate measures 7-1/4" wide, 3-3/8" tall and hole to hole measurements of 6" (center of hole to center of hole) The short plate measures 5-3/4" wide, 4-1/2" tall and hole to hole measurements of...

  • Replacement Recommendation for a Costar Model 12RV-D Monitor
Hey Craig, thanks for reaching out! I recommend using either the RV Safe Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector which comes in Black # RS54FR as well as White # RS34FR. These only install with two wires (red for power and black for ground) so whatever function your third wire carries won't be needed.

  • Troubleshooting/Replacing The ProTECHtor LP Gas Detector
The first thing you will want to do is try resetting the detector. This can be done by holding the test button. If the Red alarm light is still on after a reset, and there are no gas leaks, it is going to be time to replace the detector. They generally last around 7 years so it is not uncommon for them to go bad. Our best option for replacing the ProTECHtor LP Gas Detector is the RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector part # RS54FR. This will be a nice upgrade as it can detect Carbon...

  • Replacement Options For An Atwood 33636E Propane Gas Detector
Atwood propane detectors have been on and off available since the Atwood brand was bought out and slowly killed off by Dometic so you'd be hard pressed to find one at this point. We currently only offer the RV Safe brand which has either just propane gas detection or models with propane gas and carbon monoxide detection. Each of these come with trim plates that are a surface mount design to cover up any gaps left behind by the old unit. The small trim measures 5-3/4" long x 4-1/4" wide...

  • Replacement Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector for a 35-742 12V DC Safe-T-Alarm

Both the # RS54FR (black) or # RS34FR (white) and the 35-742 12V DC Safe-T-Alarm are 12v, 2-wire propane and carbon monoxide alarms. This means that either of the # RS54FR (black) or # RS34FR (white) will wok as a replacement.

  • What Does The Flashing Fault Light Mean On An Atwood RV Propane Gas And CO2 Detector
If you're getting a fault with your Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector # AT36681 then I would first ensure that there's no presence of propane and then would cut power to the detector for a few minutes to let it fully power down. • Recommended LP Detector Replacement For A 1993 Fleetwood Flair With A 3-Wire Detector
Hey Brad, The 3-wire design for older LP detectors just included a second power wire (one directly to the battery and one to the DC distribution panel) to ensure that the detector always has power to keep you safe.
