Question:

Can this TowSmart hitch handle a bike rack for two e-bikes on my 2025 Kia Telluride?

Absolutely, Mike - the TowSmart # TS84ZR has a 500-lb tongue weight rating or 750 lbs with weight distribution, so it’s plenty strong for a two-bike e-bike rack. The 2 inch receiver size is standard for most bike racks, cargo platforms, and even motorcycle carriers. I do recommend checking the limits of your vehicle in the owner's manual.

Since you’re using it just for a rack, you won’t need the trailer wiring or ball mount. I’d just recommend picking up a locking 5/8 inch diameter hitch pin to keep your rack secure, such as the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 which as built-in anti rattle. Keep in mind, you won't need this if your bike rack already has a hitch pin or anti-rattle mechanism.

What bike rack are you using?

Thanks Andrew, that helps. My rack is a Yakima OnRamp. Do you know if the tilt-away still clears the Telluride’s liftgate?

@Mike You're very welcome Mike. And yes, the Yakima OnRamp 2-bike rack # Y88DJ plays really nicely with the TowSmart # TS84ZR on a Telluride. The Telluride’s hitch pin is set back only about 4", so when you tilt the OnRamp away, it gives the liftgate plenty of room to swing up without hitting the rack. If you want, feel free to send over a picture once you’ve got it mounted - we love seeing everyone’s finished setups! I also attached a demonstration video showing the OnRamp on a similar SUV model so you can see how it folds up and tilts away.
