You will need to hard wire the trailer brake controller on your 8000 series Ford. The following items will be needed for installation.
Brake Controller, I recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller- Proportional, item # 90885, which is very easy to use and adjust with differing loads. This controller is the best controller I have towed with to date. You will also need a 7-Way installation Kit, Item # ETBC7 or 6-Way Installation Kit, Item # ETBC6, depending on which connector you need at the rear of your vehicle. These kits include all of the wiring, connectors and circuit breakers needed to install a brake controller, as long as you already have a working 4-Way at the rear of the vehicle. If you do not have a working 4-Way at the rear of the vehicle you will need to install one. You can use the 4-Pole 72 inch Long Vehicle End, item # 18172, to for this.
If you go with the 7-Way kit you can use the Adapter 7 Pole to 6 Pole - Universal, item # 47549, to hook up to 6-Way connectors also.
We have directions for wiring these kits on our Brake Controller Installation Starting from Scratch page as well as installation instructions for the # ETBC7 (see links).
