Does the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Block the Kick Sensor on a 2025 Toyota RAV4?

Updated 11/13/2025 | Published 10/25/2025

Question:

I have a 2025 Rav4 and would like to put the Echo hitch model EH97FR on it. My concern is the kick sensor for the rear hatch. I read many of your reviews but could not find anyone who mentions the sensor. Can you tell me if you have had customers that have had issues with the sensor not working after installation? Thank you.

Hey Tad. We got a review recently from a customer who installed the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch item # EH97FR on a 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE. He said installing the hitch did not affect the kick sensor. What typically happens in these situations if the sensor does get blocked is you will just have to kick to the left or right of the 2" receiver to find a spot that works.

The EcoHitch item # EH97FR is custom fit for all models of the 2025 Toyota RAV4. This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 5,000 lbs towing capacity and a maximum tongue weight of 750 lbs.

Are you planning on using this hitch to tow or are you going to be using it for accessories?

Hey Tad, how did things go with the EcoHitch on your RAV4—did the kick sensor still work as expected after installation? Your update could make it easier for others wondering about the same setup.
