Features to know about

Keep Your Vehicle Looking Clean: Hidden Cross Tube Design

The hitch installs behind the rear bumper so only the 2" receiver is visible underneath. The concealed cross tube keeps everything tight and out of view for a clean, from-the-factory look. You get the utility of a hitch without having a big metal bar hanging below your vehicle.

Haul and Tow with Confidence: Class III Strength and Tested Durability

Rated for 3,500 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 525 lbs maximum tongue weight, this Class III hitch is built for everyday towing and gear hauling. It meets SAE J684 towing safety regulations and is tested using Finite Elemental Analysis to confirm strength at every stress point. The solid aluminum, steel, and stainless steel alloy construction gives it the backbone to handle small trailers, bike racks, or cargo carriers with ease.

Install It Yourself: Simple Bolt-On Mounting, No Drilling or Welding

You don’t need a lift or special tools to get this hitch on. It bolts directly to the frame with an easy, bolt-on design—no drilling, cutting, or welding required. That means it’s a straightforward DIY job in your driveway. Once installed, it lines up cleanly and fits like it was made for the vehicle.

Built to Last Longer: Eco-Friendly Alloy with Powder Coat Finish

The aerospace-grade alloy blends aluminum, steel, and stainless steel for a sturdy but lightweight build. The materials are made from recycled sources that help reduce environmental impact without giving up strength. A black powder coat finish adds extra rust protection so the hitch stays looking good and performing strong for years of towing and hauling.

First hitch received was bent, package wasn't in very good shape. I contacted etrailer and they suggested I try to straighten it, but it was bent by over 2" on one side and I questioned trying to do this. They shipped another one, and also sent a return label for the bent one to be returned. The second hitch came in an undamaged box and was a perfect fit as one would expect for a premium hitch. All ends well with no additional charge, but I had to wait another week to get the second hitch - good thing I had some time for this.

Hitch is SOLID and has worked well for the intended purpose. As eTrailer immediately took care of the initial issue, I would not hesitate to order again from them.

@Keith Thank you so much for the review! What do you normally use the hitch for?

Super easy install, the exhaust is in the way, but I was able to avoid removing the hangers.
Would have been 5 stars, but it was damaged, the paint/powder coating was scraped off enough to require repainting. (box was in perfect condition, do it was abused at the warehouse)

Looks much more stock than the draw tite and gives much better ground clearance.

It looks like you did a great job with the install, Josh! I think you're right on the clearance, doesn't look like you could get any more space with out it going into the bumper :) As far as the paint goes, let me see what I can do for you. In the meantime, you did the right thing to touch it up - helps to prevent rust!

It fit Very well and was easy to install. Today is 2024 and I installed on a very clean 2007 Rav4. Despite my subframe rails being exceptionally clean, there was tons of rust in the threaded well nuts I needed to bolt this hitch to. I couldn't even get a bolt to start in 3 out fo 4 holes. I used a M12 .125 Tap to rethread the 3 rusty holes. The supplied bolts then threaded right in. THis was the hardest part of the install. I found the tap locally on the same day I started the install. Total time was under 3 hours including my drive to 3 local stores looking for the right size tap. I'm glad I spent the extra money for the hidden crossbar, it does look better and I won't miss the extra $220 a month from now.

I installed this on a 2016 Toyota Camry with a 2.5 ltr 4 cylinder engine. I bought an old CycleMate CM2000 motorcycle trailer and I towed it full, with a cargo bag strapped on top, and with a full trunk and 4 medium sized adults in the car across more than 2500 miles to Niagara Falls and back to MN. The hitch performed flawlessly. So did my trailer. So did my Camry. The four of us had all of our camping equipment, suitcases, pillows and we got 30 mpg at 80mph the entire way. I also intend to obtain a hitch mount bicycle carrier to use with this hitchcar but have not done so yet. Still, it would be handy. :

Very happy with the receiver. It is hidden behind the bumper which is the look we desired. Your website could use a picture of the receiver installed to illustrate the claim that it is hidden behind the bumper. Lastly, the receiver took a little "muscle" to get the last bolt hole lined up. The holes to the rear of the car lined up as well as one of the holes toward the front of the car but the last hole toward the front was about 1/2" off. That difference necessitated that I pry against the fuel tank to align the last hole while inserting the bolt. It seemed there was a minor bend in the mounting arm of the one side. I was successful in installing the receiver but thought you should know that the alignment was a little off.

Love the hidden hitch for my 2009 Rav4. Looks so much more polished. Knocking a point off since my mechanic said it was missing bolts. Use for the hitch is for bike rack only.

2012 Toyota RAV4
The hitch arrived two days earlier than expected, which was great. All the parts were in the package and everything fit perfectly. I was lucky because the bolt holes for the 2012 Rav4 had tape over them from the factory, so they were very clean. Attached are a couple of pictures of how I was able to mount the hitch by myself by rigging my jack with a bungy cord. I am 77 years old and did this in about 45-55 minutes.

Quality control is bad on this product. The crossbar and receiver appear to be somewhat standard (assumption on my part) and appear to be in good condition. The mounting brackets on each side seem to be tailored to the cars. This is where quality control has failed me. First, these mounting brackets were welded at a slight angle which prevents alignment of the back bolt holes (furthest point from the receiver). I do not believe this was damaged during shipping because the mounting brackets are flared out. If this was damaged during shipping then the brackets would have been bent inward. Second, the two bolt holes closest to the receiver are partially blocked by an angle bracket that is welded too close to the holes. Bolt installation requires two flat washers and one lock washer which prevent the bolts from screwing in more than 3 turns. Essentially, I can only install one of the four bolts. Also, I'm hoping this is a rare defect.

Needed a 2 inch heavy duty trailer hitch receiver on our Toyota Rav4 in order to carry two heavy electric bikes and heavy bike rack. It works surprisingly well. Have had no issues.
by:
It has been one year since I purchased this trailer hitch. I use it for my bike rack and love it. It was easy to install, and I have never had a problem with it. Great quality, great company!

Simple install on 2011 RAV4 Limited. It's in the instructions, but if you don't read those, but do read reviews, if your RAV4.3 didn't come with a hitch, the bolt holes are covered by a sort of tape. You'll see the color disparity. Simply use a screw driver to open up the hole. The holes are already threaded, making this a simple install. A second set of hands does help, especially when you take out the plastic retainers supporting the bumper plastics to slide the hitch up. Note, even though the instructions say the hitch comes with M12x125 bolts, mine didn't. Mine came with M10x125, which required a run to the hardware store. Hence the 1 star deduction. My hitch also came with several minor scratches in the paint. Not a big deal, but QA/QC needs to tighten up their shot group.

Nice hitch, no issues with installation.

This is an excellent quality hitch. It installed with relative ease and looks really nice installed.

2012 Toyota RAV4
Excellent Hitch for 2010 Rav 4! Opted for this over the cheaper options solely for clearance reasons. I don't care about the hitch being hidden, but I read that clearance/scraping can be an issue since the car is on the lower side to the ground. Will also note that similarly to another review, etrailer sent the wrong bolts. So I had to get the M12-1.25 x 40mm bolts at Ace Hardwear which is no big deal. Car is also on the older side so I had to tap the threads, which was expected and easy to deal with. Overall I highly reccomend this hitch!

It was easy to install and came with excellent instructions. It has been holding up well and has been put to good use. No complaints. Only snag was the mounting points on my car were rusted and I needed to clean them with a tap to install it. Something to be aware of.

  • Install Location for EcoHitch on 2008 Toyota RAV4
Hey Shawn, so EcoHitch is pretty secretive about their install info which is frustrating but what I can show you is where the similar Curt hitch part # C13149 installs on your 2008 Rav4 which uses same install holes as the EcoHitch. What are you planning on towing? The EcoHitch does come with a set of printed instructions though so you will have a guide to use.

Hey Sarah, thanks for reaching out! For best ground clearance, you'll want to install the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7152 on your 2010 Toyota RAV4 Sport because the EcoHitch brand is the only one with a hidden crosstube for your vehicle, which means it has better ground clearance than the other options. If you check out the attached photo a customer sent in you'll get a good idea of what this will look like on your RAV4. What do you plan on using the hitch receiver...

  • Does Install of EcoHitch on 2010 Toyota RAV4 Require Bumper Cutting
While we don't have an install video for the EcoHitch part # 306-X7152 on your 2010 Toyota RAV4 at this time it would have basically the exact same install process as some of the other hitches we carry so you could use one their videos like what is attached to this page as a guide. Trimming of rear bumper would not be needed.

  • Does the EcoHitch for a 2008 Toyota RAV4 Reduce Ground Clearance
The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7152 is a great option for a 2008 Toyota RAV4. It has a hidden design which means most of the hitch is actually hidden behind the rear bumper. The receiver tube is the only part shown and it sits directly under the rear bumper facia. Therefore, it will reduce ground clearance but only by a few inches. There are not many trailer hitches in general that don't reduce ground clearance although some more than others.
