Is Steering Stabilizer Difficult To Install On Freightliner RV With ZF Independent Front Suspension?

Published 10/07/2025

Question:

Is installation on a freightliner ZF front end something I can do myself, or should I plan on a shop doing it?

Nate, if you’re comfortable working under the coach and have heavy-duty tools, it’s doable at home. The # ST59YR bolts to the ZF branded steering arm and frame with the supplied hardware - no drilling or welding.

You’ll need a torque wrench that reaches 250 ft-lbs and enough clearance under the front axle to cycle the steering lock-to-lock.

That said, most RVers have a shop do it since they can also handle alignment at the same time. It’s usually about an hour of labor. Do you have access to a pit or lift? That makes it a lot easier.
