Question:
Can the pintle latch be locked down when towing with the hitch ball, or only when using a lunette ring?

Good question, Terry. When you’re towing on the hitch ball, the pintle latch doesn’t close over it like on some other hitches - the coupler itself secures to the ball. The latch is only used in the pintle configuration with a lunette ring, and it gets easily swapped out with the included 2" or 2-5/16" ball (no tools required). Check out the video I attached.
Do you know if you need up to 6" drop # WS52ER, or up to 8" drop # WS97WR ?
Do you switch back and forth often, or are you mainly towing one style of trailer?
