Difference In Appearance Between Roadmaster Base Plate Kit for 2026 Jeep Wagoneer

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 09/30/2025

Question:

I am in the process of ordering a new 2026 Grand Wagoneer to replace my Wrangler and wondering whether I should order the front tow hooks. Is it a cleaner baseplate without the front tow hooks? Also I currently have the Blue Ox Avail tow bar and am wondering if the Roadmaster Nighthawk is a better fit for me. Even with the levers on the blue ox, I still get some binding and sometimes have to step on the lever. I backed up and jackknifed the towbar and it split the knuckle apart and I see the Roadmaster connection seems more sturdy, but with the weight of the Wagoneer nearing 6500 pounds I wonder if the Nighthawk gives me enough margin since the Avail is 10k rated. Thanks

Hey Bill, I attached pictures of the Roadmaster part # RM24MR which is for models without tow hooks and the part # RM44MR that is for with tow hooks. You can see that the look of either is roughly the same in terms of just the base plate kit and the grille.

The Roadmaster Nighthawk part # RM-676 is a really nice tow bar that would work great for you and the mentioned base plates. Since yours does seem to be a bit damaged it would be a great time to upgrade.

Hey Bill, how did things go with the Roadmaster Nighthawk and the base plate setup on your new Grand Wagoneer? Did the non-binding design make it easier to disconnect compared to your Blue Ox Avail? Your feedback could really help others choosing between these two tow bars.

@JamesonC I didn't buy the grand wagoneer, I bought a 2026 Escalade. I've ordered the baseplate but it looks like I won't get it until Christmas.

@BillB Right on! Hopefully you don't have any trips planned before then.
