good morning. I have a 2024 Jeep wrangler that I am setting up to flat tow. I will be installing a Roadmater base plate 521453-5. Your website notes that special tools are needed for installation. What is this mystery tool and what is it used for during the installation? Thank. etrailer is the best!

You will indeed need a "special tool" in order to install the Roadmaster Base Plate # RM-521453-5 on your 2024 Jeep wrangler. The tool they are referring to is a die grinder. This is used to enlarge holes in the frame in order to allow bolts to pass thru. A die grinder would be the preferred tool for this, but it could be done with a drill or file if that is all you have. You should be able to find a decent die grinder at your local hardware store.

I have linked the installation instructions below. If you look at page 4 step 9 you will see mention of the "mystery tool".
