Updated 09/17/2025 | Published 09/08/2025

Question:

I have a 99 south wind with a converter charger that is 55amps and has a wattage of 975. Will this unit work to replace my current set up or do I need a higher amp?

Hey Brian, yes the Go Power RV Converter and Smart Battery Charger - 12V - 55 Amp # 34266169 that you referenced will work great in place of the 55 amp converter you have currently in your RV. You would not need a higher rated converter than this. Did yours go out?

Yes the one I have now is original as far as I know and does not work. Seeing if this would work as I saw the wattage is lower than the one I currently have or if I needed a higher amp to meet the higher wattage.

@Brian I am not sure why the wattage is listed differently. All that really matters is amperage and if that matches its going to charge at the same rate. The only way the amps and watts wouldn't match is if somehow the voltage was different as they essentially measure the same thing.
