Backing into a campsite or fuel stop is a lot less stressful with this hitch’s automatic slider. It gives you 14" of fore/aft travel as you turn, so the head moves toward the tailgate when cornering and slides back toward the cab when you straighten out. That motion happens on its own—no levers or manual adjustments—so you can focus on maneuvering instead of stopping to manage the hitch.
This setup is rated for 20,000 lbs gross towing weight and a 5,000 lbs vertical load limit, giving it the muscle to pull big fifth wheels with confidence. The steel construction is laser-cut and built solid, while the black powder coat and e-coat resist corrosion over time. It’s been tested to SAE J2638 standards for heavy-duty fifth wheel towing, so the strength is proven where it counts.
Once you’re lined up, the self-locking hitch plate takes over—no extra steps needed. The precisely laser-cut, wraparound jaw closes automatically around the king pin and locks in place for a tight, rattle-free hold. That single-hook design keeps movement to a minimum and gives a quieter, more stable ride compared to slide-bar styles. You can also add a padlock (sold separately) to secure your trailer when you walk away.
The dual-articulating head pivots both front-to-back and side-to-side so the connection stays smooth even over uneven roads or driveways. By letting the trailer move naturally with the truck’s suspension, it helps limit chucking and cuts down on stress between truck and trailer over long hauls. The low-friction gliding plates keep everything moving cleanly without complicated gear systems or small parts that can wear out.
When you need your bed space back, pull off the removable hitch plate section—only 43 lbs of the total 187 lbs base weight—to make moving it easier. That modular design helps with storage between trips while keeping setup straightforward when you’re ready to tow again.

Perfect fit, I'd say so! When are you going to be able to take it out for its first tow, Tommy?

The new hitch looks fantastic in your truck! Also, thanks for sharing about the clearance with the fender wells. We have not heard that feedback yet so it will be helpful information to have and share.

Thanks for the awesome review, David! And that first sentence might be the best installation advice we’ve heard in a while. It’s great to hear the SuperGlide lived up to expectations and gave you the clearance and maneuverability you were looking for with the short bed setup. Sounds like you really put it through its paces too, from parking lot testing to highway driving. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, and happy trails and hope you have a great holiday weekend!

Overall, once the latching mechanism is well lubricated with WD40, as recommended, and after bending the trigger pin and breaking it off Pullrite sent me a replacement part quickly, and learning from Pullrite the best way to back the pinbox up to the hitch is to have the capture plate at a height near the bottom of the hitch plate and lit it slide up as you back into the hitch, will trigger the mechanism easily. And that certain works well now. I wish there was a way to raise the height of the hitch head, as we had trailer interference on the pickup bed on a tight turn where the truck was articulated uphill from the nose of the trailer. I am going to try lowering my trailer pinbox and see if I can get better clearance. That mishap cost me $3,200 in body repairs. Make sure you check you trailer nose clearance to the bed rails .. and after learning a hard lesson, you should be looking at a 5-6 inch clearance at a minimum when level. Overall, I do love the hitch!! And Pullrite was extremely responsive to my questions and need for a new replacement part.

I'd be happy to help you with that! Which model pin box does your 5th wheel use?
