What Are The Dimensions On The Replacement SwingBase Shank Looking For A Solution To Clear Spare

Updated 08/20/2025 | Published 08/11/2025

Question:

I have a 2024 Ford Bronco Badlands with the Sasquatch package. On my current Yakima EXO SwingBase, the shank is just under 2? too short to clear the rear spare tire. For the replacement shank, what is the exact measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the bracket bolt holes? Is it the same as the original or is it extended

Hey John,

The dimensions on the replacement shank # Y26KV are 5" from the hitch pin to the closest bracket bolt holes, and 9-3/4" to the farther bracket bolt hole. That is the same as the original one that comes in the normal Yakima SwingBase # Y34VR. What I recommend for your setup is the Yakima StraightShot Extension # Y69VR. You will put that in the receiver of your Bronco and it will allow you to move your receiver out 7-1/4", plenty of room to clear your spare.

What are you using on your SwingBase?

I ended up purchasing the Kuat Hi Low extension, same idea as your suggestion. The hope was to eliminate having a second piece if the replacement tongue was just a bit longer than the stock unit on the EXO swingbase. Thanks for following up, great service as expected with E-Trailer.com
