Recommended Hitch Adapter for a 2025 Jeep Wrangler With 35" Wheels

Updated 07/01/2025 | Published 04/05/2025

Question:

Im trying to find a way to mount my Kuat NV 2.0 to my 2025 Jeep Wrangler with the XR 35inch package. The oversized spare tire makes this pretty difficult. The swivel looks like it might work, but Im concerned the tire would be in the way of pulling the pin out so you can swing the arm out. Do you have dimensions available so I could measure? Or can you recommend a setup that would work for me? Ideally wed be able to use the rack and still open the trunk.

Hey Murphy, the Swagman Swivel Hitch Extender # S86SR is not going to work, but what you could use is the Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks # PVD20B instead.

This hitch adapter measures 42 9/16" from the farthest edge of the edge of the carrier when unfolded to the center of the hitch pin hole so it should be perfect for you.

This adapter works with 2" hitches, a 250 lb capacity, and can handle up to a 4 bike rack. If there is anything else I can do to help you, please feel free to drop a comment and let me know!

Hi Bryce, You could always install the pin upside down, as long as you have space to slip the cotter pin through the locking pin on the topside, you would be able to use it in this application. Cheers, Dave

Hello Bryce, I am looking at this swivel hitch and curious why it won't fit a Jeep Wrangler? I have a Jeep rubicon diesel w/ 37" tires and spare but the bottom of the spare is above the hitch. I plan on attaching a Versahaul VH-90 to this and like that I can choose the direction of the swing arm to driver or passenger.

@Sean The main issue I see with the Swagman Swivel Hitch # S86SR not working on your Jeep is simply access to the hitch pin for installation and removal. Some people have had issues reaching the hitch pin with the spare tire getting in the way. If yours sits high enough above the hitch that you do not see that being an issue, this is going to work just fine for you. The swivel hitch is rated great for your jeep, its just some issues with accessibility depending on the vehicle set up.
