Can the Malone Roof Rack be Used on a 2025 Subaru Forester for a Thule Hullavator Pro Carrier?

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/10/2025

Question:

Hello, We have a new 2025 Subaru Forester, and would like to buy a Malone Airflow2 roof rack. We have a choice between 50 and 58 long bars. If we want to keep the option open to install a Thule Hullavator kayak carrier or a similar lift assist device, can we still go with 50 long bars, or will we need 58 long bars? And a different option can two Malone SeaWing carriers be installed side by side on the 50 bars, or will we need to use the 58 bar? Thank you for your help.

Hey Tibor, thanks for reaching out!

I see you ended up going with the 50" Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MAL74AR. You'll be able to fit 2 of the Malone SeaWing # MPG107MD, but we found out in the recent past that Malone does not want people using the Hullavator Pro # TH898 with that roof rack as they say it isn't sturdy enough.

For an alternative load assist I recommend checking out the Malone DownLoader Kayak Roof Rack w/ Lift Assist and Tie-Downs # MPG114MD-351XL, but I do realize this is a completely different style of system than the Hullavator Pro.

What are your thoughts/preferences between the SeaWing and the DownLoader carriers?

Hey Tibor, I'm curious to know how the 50-inch Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack is working out for you with the Malone SeaWing carriers. Did you find the DownLoader to be a good alternative for your needs? Your experience could really help others in a similar situation.
