2013 Toyota Sienna Hitch Recommendation for Yakima EXO System
Updated 08/11/2025 | Published 07/28/2025 >
Question:
I have a 2013 Toyota Sienna. I also have a Yakima EXO system for my Class B RV. I was wondering if I could add a hitch to the back of my Sienna and use the EXO setup on my Sienna for small trips. Is the EXO system with Cargo Carrier too much weight if I purchase a trailer hitch rated at 350lbs?

Hey Adam, thanks for reaching out!
You can definitely install a hitch on your 2013 Sienna so you can utilize the Yakima Exo system. I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98853 because it has a hidden crosstube so we'll get better ground clearance.
If you plan on using the two-box Yakima EXO Swing Away Storage System # Y74ZR then you'll want to keep in mind that the EXO weighs in at 157 lbs, leaving you 193 lbs of luggage capacity for both boxes combined.
The only other thing you'll want to check on is the overall loaded weight of your van. I imagine you're using the boxes because all of the seats are filled, so you want to make sure you don't overload your van.
What do you plan on carrying in the box(es)?

Jon thanks. I’ll check out the link provided for the correct hitch, clearance was a concern in addition to the weight as the EXO is a hefty system! Thanks for the prompt and thoughtful response.
