What Hitch Riser Would Work With Trailer Hitch Receiver On 2023 VW Taos To Carry Cargo Rack?

Question:

good evening coming to you cause your the pros. i have a new Volkswagen Taos which comes with no hitch. only two out there that would fit, Curt 13496 and a Draw tight model. the Curt is an easier install then the Draw tight. both would only be 12 off ground so thinking would need to raise the cargo rack to take out any chance of it hitting ground-dont need that. Could you give some ideas on what i can use, i looked through site and saw numerous rises of some attachments, could a tow bar unit work since only plan on using a cargo rack? any help would be appreciated. Thanks

When we installed the Curt Receiver # C38JR we measured the inside height of the receiver at 12" where the Draw-Tite Receiver # DT79GR measured at 11-1/2". The Adapter # C26FV you found is only rated for use with tow bars as it was not designed to support tongue weight more than the weight of the tow bar.

We do have the 20x48 Reese Cargo Carrier # 6502 which you can see raises the platform above the receiver shank which will give you a better height on the tray and decrease the chances of it dragging on steep curbs and driveways. Otherwise if you already have your cargo carrier you should consider the Patriot Hitches Adjustable Drop Hitch Receiver Adapter # PH67SR as this is designed for use with a ball mount or hitch mounted accessories.
