Hey Scott, the Draw Tite hitch part # 76227 that you referenced weighs 30 lbs. Are you concerned this would affect your towing capacity?

Hi Jameson, thanks for answering my question. I am looking into changing the bike rack hitch that I bought from etrailer a while back with the new vertical one from Thule. So, I was trying to calculate whether or not I would exceed the tongue weight with my four bikes and by how much if I do. I think I would be coming close to my 2017 subaru outback tongue weight which I believe is 200 lbs. So, it's not towing capacity but the tongue capacity that I am concerned with. I also bought the Draw Tite hitch from etrailer too and realized I didn't know it's weight while doing my weight calculations. I am beginning to really hate the Apex XT swing bike hitch rack because it is so unfriendly to different bike frames as well as kids bike.

@Scott Great questions but the weight of the hitch doesn't get factored against the tongue weight capacity of the vehicle as it attaches at the frame and our hitch manufacturers have stated that it essentially becomes apart of the vehicle chassis. I totally feel your pain on the Apex bike rack. More and more people are getting away from the hanging bike racks for the reason you mentioned. They are just a huge headache to load and unload. The Thule Revert part # TH73VA that I believe you are interested in weighs 73 lbs so it is on the heavier side but it would be a lot easier to load/unload.

@JamesonC Oh! That's good news then. I would be within limits then. Now i have to figure out how to get rid of my existing bike rack. ?? Thanks for all the useful information.

@Scott Facebook marketplace seems to be the place to sell things easy as long as you can deal with tons of "is this still available?" messages.
