Question:
I want to get a hitch for my 2016 Subaru Outback 2.5i. I plan to use the hitch for mounting a bike rack. I initially odored the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4 - ITEM # 36493inch but now I am wondering if the version with 2inch opening would give me more versatility. I also am wondering if the Curt hitches have better ground clearance. I use my car on dirt roads that frequently test the clearance of my Subaru. Thank you.

For your 2016 Subaru Outback I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76227. This style of hitch is going to provide the cleanest look because the cross bar sits behind the bumper which also allows for a bit more ground clearance than the hitches that sit under the bumper. This hitch provides about 1/4" more ground clearance than the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13410 of similar style. I recommend going with the 2" hitch whenever possible because it is the most common hitch receiver size and will provide you with the most versatility in both weight capacity and what accessories will work with the hitch.
If you do not already have a bike rack for your hitch I recommend the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH83JV.
